Raptors 98, Magic 83: Kyle Lowry scores 33 points as Toronto runs away from Orlando

So this Kyle Lowry guy is really good and he did some very mean things to the Magic on Wednesday night.

Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry had a field day against the Orlando Magic as the Raptors ran away from them, 98-83, in Toronto.

Lowry finished with 33 points and 11 assists. He ran a potent Toronto offense that shot 14-of-31 (45.2 percent) from behind the arc. Amir Johnson added 22 points, 11 rebounds and Jonas Valanciunas added 14 points and 15 rebounds.

Nikola Vucevic led Orlando with 16 points and 10 rebounds after missing 12 games with a concussion. For the most part, he looked comfortable, slamming in a dunk, knocking down jumpers, and scoring in the post.

But it wasn't enough: the Magic shot just 28-of-84 (33.3 percent) from the field and 6-of-19 (31.6 percent) from behind the arc.

The first quarter belonged to Lowry: he finished the quarter with 17 points and four assists on 6-of-8shooting from the field, including five triples. His fifth long ball gave Toronto a 31-17 lead. Victor Oladipo spit a pair of free throws, bringing the score to 33-20 before the period's close.

The Magic's first points in the second quarter came on a fall away, and-one runner from Tobias Harris. The 6-foot-9 forward sailed out of bounds as the ball barely missed the backboard and sailed straight through the net.

He hit the ensuing free throw to complete the play. Moments later Steve Novak--a well-documented three-point threat--drained a long range shot giving Toronto a 15-point, 44-29 lead.

Johnson's mid-range jumper extended the Raptors' lead to 17 with just under a minute remaining. Vucevic drained a pair of free throws to cut the lead to 15, 55-40, before halftime. It was his 11th and 12th point of the night; he also added six rebounds in his first 13 minutes of play.

Jameer Nelson drained a three-pointer to cut the lead to eight points with seven minutes left in the third period, but it never got closer to that. A Lowry-to-Johnson backdoor alley-oop off a pick-and-roll capped a 7-0 Raptors run. Those pick-and-rolls devastated the Magic's defense all night: the screener found his way behind defenders and Toronto shooters were ready to knock down open shots on late, ensuing rotations. Lowry finished the third quarter with 31 points.

Orlando's defensive issues didn't settle in the fourth quarter and they were highlighted by a Johnson corner three. The Magic never really had a chance in the final period as the Raptors ran away with the win.
