We missed out on the 31st overall pick this year, and will miss out again in 2014 in a very deep draft.
These aren't just random 2nd round picks. These are semi valuable assets that are also cheap on the salary cap that Otis just gave away on an ill advised gamble. All for Justin Harper.
Although we have 2 picks in next years draft, the pick we get from Denver is the lesser of theirs and New York's pick. So well likely be picking up very late in the first round. Not much better position then if we would have kept the 2nd. If we pass on a PG in the top 5, I'm just not sure well be able to coup that late in the first round.
Lakers first rounder they owe us is also full of outs for them. Point is this rebuilding process is still gonna take a few years. I don't see us signing anyone to a large contract next year. Although were in much better shape with a YOUNG team and some assets, were not teeming with draft picks all over the place. (see Boston, Denver, Utah, Atlanta). Largely due to the fact (sorry horse) that Hennigan is still fighting away Otis 2 years later.
