The Kings renounced the rights to 24 year old center Cole Aldrich today. Aldrich is a 7-footer, is a former first round pick, and is still only 24 years old. For those of you who just look up his career stats, I realize you may not be impressed. The man's career up to this point has been pretty lackluster. I will point out that he has only been afforded less than ten career minutes per game.
If you examine Orlando's roster, behind Vucevic there are no other true centers. KOQ can play center, and BBD has filled in at center in the past, but Cole could really provide depth. He fits the mold of a young, unproven free agent that we have been discussing on this site, and he wouldn't demand a lot of money/years. The most telling part of this possibility is that Aldrich was drafted into the NBA by OKC, so you know Rob is very familiar with his game. If the years and money is minimum, keep an eye on this low-risk potential free agent.
