Magic vs. Clippers four-factors analysis

Andrew Nicholson, Jameer Nelson, DeAndre Jordan, and Nikola Vučević - USA TODAY Sports

Without their three leading scorers, Orlando struggled offensively in their loss to the Clippers on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, 86-76, in a battle of two shorthanded teams. L.A. didn't have Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, its All-Star core, nor did it have crucial sixth-man Jamal Crawford. Minus Arron Afflalo and J.J. Redick, Orlando didn't have its two leading scorers.

L.A. prevailed because its secondary players filled the roles the absent Clippers vacated: point guard Eric Bledsoe set a new career-high with 27 points and tallied six steals, while Lamar Odom also had six steals as the Clippers disrupted Orlando's miserable offense.

Team Pace Efficiency eFG% FT Rate OReb% TO Rate
Clippers 91.5 94.0 43.9% 17.1 26.4 14.2
Magic 91.5 83.0 37.9% 11.5 28.6 19.7

red denotes a stat worse than the team's 2012/13 average.

Almost one-in-five Orlando trips up the floor ended with a turnover. No team missing such crucial offensive pieces can hope to put up much of a fight when turning the ball over at such a high rate. The Magic also shot poorly, going 8-of-41 (19.5 percent) on shot attempts outside the painted area.
