Bovada.LV has released its odds for various NBA All-Star Weekend events in 2013, and they don't favor the Orlando Magic's representatives.
Power forward Andrew Nicholson and center Nik Vučević earned selections to the Rising Stars Challenge, set for Friday, February 15th at 9 PM on TNT. The NBA picked Nicholson as a replacement for injured Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond, while the league's assistant coaches selected Vučević for the game when they first set the roster pool.
Nicholson and Vučević both have 20-to-1 odds to win MVP honors for the Rising Stars Challenge. Those are the longest odds of anyone playing in the game, tying the Magic's young big men with Golden State Warriors swingman Harrison Barnes, Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Alexey Shved, and Cleveland Cavaliers center Tyler Zeller.
A rookie from St. Bonaventure, Nicholson is averaging 7.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Vučević, in his second season out of Southern California, is tallying 12.5 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. He is the league's only sophomore averaging a double-double.
"If he guards me or if I guard him, we're gonna let each other score," Vucevic said Sunday of a deal he made with Nicholson. "We're not gonna get the ball, probably, a lot because we're big men and it's more of a guard game."
