Is Jacque Vaughn the Magic's Main Problem?

Magic fans on this site really don't like our head coach. We praise our very smart GM Rob Hennigan, and our potential-filled, talented young core, but our head coach hasn't been getting the same type of praise. In fact, he's almost hated, and truly, I don't know why.

Yes, he is still a young coach still learning the game, but let's not play the blame game all on him. Jacque Vaughn awhile back was a assistant coach on the one and only San Antonio Spurs. His mentor? You guessed it. Gregg Poppovich. Now Poppovich is one of the best coaches ever in NBA history, so it's perplexing why people think Vaughn can't coach. He must've picked up a few things from him, so it's not like he doesn't know what he's doing... (cough cough Jason Kidd).

Also, you think Rob Hennigan is a smart GM right? Well, if he chose Vaughn to be head coach, he must've saw something good in him. He very well could've made the wrong decision hiring him too, but if he did that, don't you think he would have fired him by now? Jacque has been with the Magic for a season and a half just about, so that was more than enough time for Vaughn to go, but yet, he's still here. He clearly must trust him.

Now, this isn't to say Vaughn doesn't have his faults either. For some odd reason, he plays the veterans more than the young players often. Makes no sense for a team who is all about being young. So, it's not like he is in the clear.

It's just that when the Magic lose, it's not completely Vaughn's fault, it's the players. We can be a very good team, we just need to be consistent. One night, we can look like the Miami Heat in Game 6 last season, and the next night, we will look like a middle school basketball team. It's the consistency of our PLAYERS that are the main problem, not our head coach. So, give the guy a break, he's working with what he's got. He may make questionable decisions, but he certainly isn't a bad coach who needs to be fired. In fact, he's in the same position our players are in... development.
