Big Baby to the Motor City

In light of Orlando's home tilt against the Pistons tonight, I thought I would present a roster move between the Magic and Pistons that could benefit both teams greatly. The Eastern Conference is weaker than it has ever been, and Detroit (even with their struggles at home early in the season) is assuredly a playoff team. I like their roster, Smith (SF/PF) and Monroe (PF/C) are versatile, Drummond is a great young player, and they have solid role payers (Billups, Jennings, Singler, Stuckey). The one glaring weakness on Detroit's roster is a lack of a "big man" off the bench to spell both Monroe and Drummond. Enter Glen Davis.

Davis could bring Detroit a veteran presence with proven playoff success and experience. Davis is not an ideal player starting and playing plentiful minutes (as we know), but in the right role/situation, he can be a threat off the bench. BBD's contract is not ideal, but Detroit would be on the hook for only next season. It could be a risk Joe Dumars is willing to take. OPP readers should temper their expectations regarding what we will get for Glen. Orlando will look to include him in any deal with AA or Jameer, but Orlando will more than likely hang on to both of those players for the rest of the season. I think Glen will be dumped to a team like Detroit to open up minutes for Andrew, Tobias, Maurice, etc.

Trade Machine Approved
Orlando gets Charlie Villanueava (Expiring contract), 2014 2nd rd. pick (#47)
Detroit gets Glen Davis

Detroit gets a boost to their 2nd unit. Orlando benefits by subtracting BBD and his minutes that will be distributed to other young players, while also adding a Top 50 pick in a loaded draft. Thoughts/Comments?
