NBA All-Star 2014: No Magic players near the top in first voting returns

In the first All-Star balloting returns, the four Orlando representatives are nowhere in sight.

If the NBA's first All-Star voting returns for the 2014 event are any indication, the chances of an Orlando Magic player starting in New Orleans are slim.

The NBA announced those returns on Thursday, and no Magic player received enough votes at their respective positions to earn a mention in the release. The Orlando players on the ballot are Arron Afflalo and Victor Oladipo in the backcourt, with Tobias Harris and Nikola Vučević in the frontcourt. For both conferences, the NBA released the names of the top 15 vote-getters in the froncourt and the top 10 in the backcourt.

The 7-15 Magic are rebuilding, don't have a franchise star, and lack national exposure, all of which factors play a role in earning starting votes for All-Star selections. Afflalo stands a great chance of earning recognition from the coaches, who can name him to the East's reserve unit for his productivity, efficiency, and overall excellence.

Vučević, one of the league's leading rebounders, could also earn consideration, but it's doubtful that the coaches would send two Magic players to the All-Star Game.

Magic fans can vote for their favorite players into the starting five in myriad ways, including via NBA.com, text message, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. More details on how to vote are available on the league's official website.
