First off, let me just say that the recent news about D-Rose is truly, terrible. As NBA fans, no matter how much disdain we hold towards either, a particular player or an entire franchise, at the end of the day, basketball is just a game, and human lives triumph all.
Now, with that being said, let me explain how the injury of Rose affects the Magic.
In life, timing is everything, and Oladipo's plunge into the starting lineup couldn't of come at a better time. We're seeing all of the speculation about when in the season Orlando was going to toss Victor into the fire come into fruition. This, of course, means sending one of my favorite Magic players of all time, Jameer, to the hottest seat on the bench.
Chicago isn't a franchise that deals with mediocrity; fans are passionate and very loyal. I don't see them going through another season like they did last year; granted, they did win a playoff series. So, I think this is where you might see Chicago get a little desperate in-light of the Rose situation.
Orlando really has what the Bulls need in order to make a playoff push; a veteran point guard who can knock down shots and run the offense. Yes, they do have Hinrich and Teague, but Teague is really more of a project at the moment, so, they basically have one reliable PG.
So here's my proposed trade:
ORL sends Jameer Nelson to CHI
CHI sends 2014 1st rounder draft pick to ORL
The draft pick is from Charlotte and is top 10 protected, but I really don't see the Bobcats as a lottery team, especially in a weak Eastern conference. I feel this trade benefits both teams. Bulls get a solid starting PG and ORL adds another toy to Hennigan's collection.
