The Orlando Magic released Thursday afternoon an update on the condition of power forward Glen Davis, who broke his left foot in Wednesday's loss to the New York Knicks and returned to Orlando for further examination.

"After further evaluation by the Orlando Magic medical staff, it has been determined that Glen Davis will undergo surgery on Friday to repair a left foot fracture of the fifth metatarsal," the statement says. "The procedure will entail inserting a screw to stabilize the injury and help in the healing process.

"He is expected to be out 8-to-12 weeks depending on progress made during rehabilitation."

In his second season with Orlando, Davis ranks second on the team in per-game scoring (15.1 points) and rebounding (7.2). He previously missed 11 games with a sprained left shoulder, during which period Orlando went 1-10.

An eight-week absence would keep Davis out of the Magic's next 28 games, while missing 12 weeks would rule him out for the remainder of the regular season.
