J.J. Redick - USA TODAY Sports
The veteran Magic guard says he is "in the loop" on trade talks surrounding him.
As the 2013 NBA trading deadline approaches, veteran shooting guard J.J. Redick remains in contact with Arn Tellem, his agent, as well as Orlando Magic general manager Rob Hennigan on all developments. "Nothing is imminent," Redick tells Michael Scotto of RealGM of a possible trade, "[and] nothing is in the foreseeable future."
Redick, whom Orlando selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, has developed into arguably its best and most consistent player in the 2012/13 season. He's averaging career-bests in minutes (31.7), points (15), and assists (4.5) while shooting 45.4 percent from the field, another career-best figure.
Because Redick's contract expires at the end of the season, he'd make an ideal trade target for teams looking to bolster their wing depth for a postseason run. Rumors have linked Redick to several teams, but to hear the Virginia native tell it himself, no deal is close.
