Fan favorite Ryan Anderson, traded for the rather unknown but hardworking C Gustavo Ayon. The re-signing of Ish Smith, aka The Throw a Party, Duhon's Gone (to Lakerland, as part of the blockbuster deal). And how can we forget the inevitable departure of Dwight Howard, finally released from his state of self-inflicted personal hell in the form of a trade, center-pieced around bringing back a blooming, productive shooting guard (Aaron Afflalo), an active center with potential in Vucevic, and an assortment of picks and other players.
Do you recognize your team yet, Magic fans? Neither do I, but, quite frankly, I like the direction the team is moving. Sure they'll have their growing pains, what young team doesn't (looking at you, OKC) but this is a young, athletic core of hoopers who pending a few more desirable parts (through either trade, sign or the draft) and time spent together will make Magic Faithful proud once more for years to come.
As it currently stands, the Orlando Magic have more players signed then they can walk into training camp, so this is most likely not the final roster we will be treated to come opening night. There are also needs on the depth chart that need addressing, such as an insurance policy at the PG position (with rumors that the Magic are eyeing summer league standout Josh Akognon). There are rumors of certain players (Al Harrington, Hedo Turkoglu) being used as trade bait, but, who would Orlando be really getting back for players of their caliber at this point? So many questions, so few answers. That being said, this is how the squad is currently rounding out:
1 Jameer Nelson Ish Smith (Josh Akognon?)
2 Aaron Afflalo JJ Redick Deandre Liggins
