This deal takes on the Davis and J. Richardson contracts while leaving over 30M (projected) in cap room for the 2014-2015 season. The 12M Humphries expiring could be turned for an additional asset in the summer prior to the 2013-2014 season to jumpstart the rebuilding process.

I'm not going to try to shove Lopez down your throats. He gets a lot of hate on this site for his lack of rebounding numbers. There are plenty of excuses that can be thrown around. But should Dwight still be a member of the Magic at the start of the season, keeping an open mind, even if a scrutinizing one, on Lopez's start to the season can't hurt.

The picks aren't going to be the best with Howard on the roster and Lopez still has a lot to prove. Nonetheless, I think that this deal is significantly better than past ones reported that involved Brooklyn. The overwhelming majority of members on this site (80%) want the Rockets package and I can see the benefits of that trade. But should the Rockets be scared away by the thought of stripping themselves of all assets to watch Dwight walk to rival Dallas, do you honestly feel that this package is worse than what the Lakers will offer? (Either Bynum in a two team deal with the chance to walk, or the Cleveland 3 team deal that nets Verejao)
