Disclaimer: I am a Suns fan. Also. as I scrolled through some posts, the rumor of the day seems to be focused on Monte Ellis. As someone who watched Ellis pout and jack shots throughout his GSW stint, I can clearly say, good luck with that. There could be worse fits, but Marbury and Iverson aren't in the league anymore.
But that is not why I am here.
After listening to Suns fans over on BSOTS, and perusing comments by Magic fans on this blog, i found it to be a very interesting study on the overwhelming ability of fans to overvalue their own players and undervalue other teams players.
Case in point when discussing a possible trade for Nash.
Some here are suggesting that the Suns would take Nelson, Reddick and your pick for Nash and Childress. Over on the Suns side, some are suggesting that Anderson would have to be part of that deal.Suns fans seem to value Nash more than Orlando. Orlando seems to value Nelson and Anderson more than the Suns do. It is interesting.
I would suggest that from the Suns standpoint, any deal for Nash has to bring back at least one quality young starting capable player, no bad contracts while unloading one of ours, and a couple of picks, with at least one high in the lottery. Yet, as someone with a brain, I know that nobody is trading for a 38 year old PG on an expiring deal and giving that up.
So the bottom line is this: Nash isn't going anywhere unless some dumb GM throws everything and the kitchen sink at Sarver [ahem Otis Smith].
So,
