The Heat have won 11 of their last 13 games

…and are favored by 4 points tonight, with an over/under of 191.

The Magic will have their work cut out for them defensively; not only are the Heat ranked second in offensive efficiency, they are shooting 48.4% from the field, 76.5% from the free throw line, and 39.1% on three pointers. The Magic are shooting 43.4% from the field, 65% on free throws, and 38.5% on threes.

Defensively, the Heat allow their opponents to shoot 43% from the field, while the Magic allow opponents to shoot 43.5%.

The Magic are 4-4 in their last 8 games against the Heat, including 2-2 in Orlando.

Damn att for screwing my network

This week so i hope we can trade some sg and howard soon this game should show we can beat playoff teams but not championship caliber teams although a big win for the Magic is what I’m expecting to be the outcome. HAPPY posting everyone!

Each year I hope the Warriors, Colts, Cavs, and the Magic get better yet the opposite happens.

Wade and James are some of the fastest players up and down the court, and everyone knows they want to run the floor. When you give up on the offensive rebound, you RUN back.

Our Fair City...a campy post-apocalyptic science fiction radio epic!

by The BBQ Chicken Madness on Feb 8, 2012 7:30 PM EST reply actions

Yeah, it's fun while it lasts

The thing is, there hasn’t been too much rough play, but they aren’t automatically calling fouls when Wade or Lebron get stripped. That makes a huge difference (and a better game for everyone). Though you can see how it throws both of them off their game.

Too depressed to think of a sig.

by EnnBee on Feb 8, 2012 7:31 PM EST up reply actions

They also aren't calling fouls on the Heat as much either.

I worry that the Magic will give in to frustration before the Heat do, though. Losing composer is a real issue with this Magic team.

Our Fair City...a campy post-apocalyptic science fiction radio epic!

by The BBQ Chicken Madness on Feb 8, 2012 7:33 PM EST up reply actions

I get that

But I think that’s really only an issue when it feels like it’s being called one way. If they let them play on both ends, I’ll take my chances.

Too depressed to think of a sig.

by EnnBee on Feb 8, 2012 7:35 PM EST up reply actions

I do like that they seem to be letting them play for the most part

I’m sure they will tighten it up and call everything for Miami eventually, but I really don’t mind not getting to the line on everything on our end as long as it goes both ways. Besides, it’s much more entertaining without all of the free throws.

Too depressed to think of a sig.

The confidence is contagious

This team seems especially susceptible to feeding off the other players shots. When one guy gets on, everyone does. When the struggles happen, it’s a quick downward spiral. I’m not sure why that is, but they need to figure out how to stay mentally tough and avoid the dark side of this trait.

Yup. Name recognition.

Did you see the FanShot with the link on basketball prospectus? They do a thing putting together the most deserving all star team based on stats and by any statistical measure you choose, Ryno is the 2nd best forward in the east.

he is the most deserving, but it doesn’t matter b/c the league sucks

I saw an explanation from a movie exec on Nicolas Cage movies

Nicolas Cage movies can be sold for tons of money overseas. So, you sell those rights and that is your budget. Anything made in the US box office is pure profit. Pretty simple.

But, no. We don’t.

So how are the Magic doing?

Down by 30 at this point I’m guessing.

If the Magic must trade Dwight, Hedo better stay. He needs to retire a Magic.

I can't believe I'm rooting for a guy like Jeremy Lin, but it's so fun

proud that the Magic didn't let Miami take over

there were several runs there, but our guys stuck with it. Good on them.

Agreed

I also think SVG was a little faster calling the timeouts when the runs stated and I think that made a big difference.

Yeah, he was probably tired of waiting for Dwight and/or Jameer to lead the team . . .

And took back the reigns.

Howard had an incredible game but, when those 3s are falling no team can compete against the Magic.

The Orlando Magic: A team that flirts with Greatness, but Greatness just won't put out.
Caracas, Venezuela.

They still only shot 40% from 3

That’s a good percentage, but just about their season average. The difference was that they took a lot of them and they tend to do best when they do.

by EnnBee on Feb 8, 2012 9:36 PM EST up reply actions

while the percentage was average, the amount and timing broke the Heat's back.

The average sure went down a lot during the 2nd half, but that’s ok.
