TIME TO BECOME A CONTENDER TEAM!
I want to say that I am very disappointed in the way the Orlando magic organization is handling business with Dwight Howard and the team in general. First of all I think the problem stems from having Otis Smith and Stan Van Gundy as the general manager and as coach. They both are like the game of chess. You make a bad move and you lose the game. Needless to say they both have problems making decions. I also blame the owner for allowing this type of confussion. I would like to see Dwight stay and some strong high caliber sharp shooters surround him. Otis has cost this team to lose some great players and millions of dollars and for what? Stan has no Idea how to play his potential star players he has on the bench and will never know how much potential they have until they are traded to anothe team and comes back to burn us. Management you need to get a clue and mind another coach and general manager before you lose all your best players and fans. I am a avid magic fan and have stayed with this team win or lose. I am now to the point where I want to see a contender team in the magic like any other fan and hope you are smart enough to get some star players on this team soon. I hope you can listen to the fans because we are the ones that help pay the salery for you and your players.

Who would you have rather than SVG? He's made this team competitive again and there's no other coach that's better for this team out there

I find the idea that Orlando has "potential star players" on the bench
Utterly hilarious. Yeah, I’m sure Duhon, Davis and Q-Rich are just playing time away from being All-NBA selections.
Everyone wants the Magic to be a contending team but if it were that simple there would be 30 contending teams in the NBA every season. Good players don’t just wander through Otis Smith’s door and offer to play for the veteran’s minimum. Smith has made a lot of mistakes, no doubt, but most of them have been out of desperation and lack of alternatives. Which doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be fired, of course.
van Gundy’s done the best he can with a mediocre roster, Dwight and Anderson aside. There’s nothing on the bench that will improve the Magic and I’m sorry, if you think that Von “Career PER of 12” Wafer is going to suddenly become the next Dwyane Wade – or even the next Jamal Crawford – if he just gets some minutes is delusional.

Criticism of Stan...
Is always really laughable to me. Dude is the smartest guy in almost any room, his players seemingly like him even though he’s not necessarily a ’player’s coach’ like Doc Rivers, and he has put in a system where a team, with a noticeable lack of athleticism outside of Dwight, can win 50+ games routinely. I’ll take him for the rest of his career as far as I’m concerned. As far as the new ‘Free Wafer’ fad, I think he can inject some life into the team on a situational basis but he’ll never take over J-Rich and JJ’s roles because they’re simply better players. I suppose an argument can be made for Ish over Duhon but despite being almost just a body out there, Duhon does understand the defensive rotations and how to play in the system. In the little time Ish played, he looked pretty lost out there defensively.

Doc Rivers has done amazing
with 3 HoFers… not so much without them. Just like the Bass vs Anderson saga everyone loves the guy on the bench because of the uncertainty. A new point guard is crucial to getting past the second round IMO. Jameer is not the one to take us all the way. He would be a great backup or split starter like JJ and JRich
