Glen Davis injury: Magic forward "will be evaluated" after injuring shoulder against Wizards

Glen Davis - USA TODAY Sports

The LSU product left Orlando's victory against the Wizards on Wednesday late in the fourth quarter after taking a hard foul from Emeka Okafor.

The Orlando Magic prevailed against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday by a 90-83 final, but did suffer a loss: starting power forward Glen Davis left the game in obvious pain with 47.8 seconds to play after drawing a hard foul on Washington power forward Emeka Okafor. As Davis elevated to dunk the ball, Okafor raked him across the left forearm. Even before Davis hit the floor, he was reaching to clutch his left shoulder. Magic trainer Keon Weise immediately came out to attend to Davis as he lay on the floor; Weise would later have to help Davis walk to the locker room.

Because Davis left the game after drawing a foul, the Wizards had the opportunity to choose who'd take his free throws. Randy Wittman selected Maurice Harkless, who split the pair of freebies to put Orlando ahead by seven.

In his postgame media address, Magic coach Jacque Vaughn confirmed the injury is to Davis' left shoulder, not his wrist, and that Davis "will be evaluated."

Davis has started all 25 of Orlando's games, averaging 16 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. It's unclear if he'll be available for the Magic's next game, which is set for Friday against the Toronto Raptors.

Vaughn declined to discuss who might start at power forward if Davis is unable to play.
