One day after breaking his left hand in the Orlando Magic's season-opening victory, starting small forward Hedo Türkoğlu underwent surgery, reports John Denton of OrlandoMagic.com. Surgeons inserted a metal plate and five screws in Türkoğlu's hand. "Doctors are projecting that Turkoglu will miss a minimum of four weeks," Denton writes, "something that would result in him being out of 14 Magic games."

Türkoğlu appears to be well following the surgery, as he posted this update--which includes a must-see photo--to his Twitter page afterward:

Türkoğlu, 33, tallied six points, two boards, one assist, and two steals prior to sustaining the hand injury in a collision with Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari. "After I fouled him I thought it was just a hit," Türkoğlu told Denton. "But when Jameer (Nelson) passed me the ball I just couldn't catch it."

With Türkoğlu sidelined, Orlando has called upon starting two-guard Arron Afflalo to shift to the three for long stretches. DeQuan Jones, an undrafted rookie from Miami (FL), started in Türkoğlu's place on Sunday and registered two points and one blocked shot in 16 minutes.
