The Orlando Magic face a tough assignment Tuesday night at Amway Center when the New York Knicks come calling: Orlando's mired in a four-game losing streak during which it's shown little to inspire optimism, while the Knicks have rolled to a 4-0 start and lead the league in offense and in defense, as John Schuhmann of NBA.com notes. Tipoff is set for 7 PM on Fox Sports Florida in the Orlando market. The Orlando Pinstriped Post GameThread will go live at 5 PM in this StoryStream and on the cover.
In Sunday's loss to the Brooklyn Nets, Orlando sputtered to a 17-point first quarter while yielding 35 points to the hosts. It outscored Brooklyn in each of the next three periods, but the poor start was enough to doom the Magic to their fourth consecutive loss.
New York, meanwhile, is cruising: it's won each of its four games by double-digits. Carmelo Anthony scored 31 points in Friday's win against the Dallas Mavericks, while J.R. Smith shot 3-of-3 from three-point range and scored 22 off the bench. Smith is shooting 68.8 percent on threes so far in 2012/13.
