Thoughts on Nicholson?

Hey guys, I'm not an Orlando Magic fan, so let me just say that up front. I'm a Boston Celtics fan, but I beg you, don't hold that against me and close out of this fanpost quite yet.

Despite being a Celtics fan, I'm not from the New England area. I'm actually from a small town tucked into the southwestern corner of New York state called Olean, N.Y. There, by some miracle, is actually a Division 1 basketball school located in my hometown of approximately 10, 000 people — a school by the name of St. Bonaventure.

My dad and I had season tickets to the Bonnies from the time I could remember learning about basketball until he moved away when I was in middle school. But I still continued to love the Bonnies. And you Magic fans probably know the name of one player in the history of St. Bonaventure basketball — Andrew Nicholson.

From my perspective, Nicholson is the greatest thing since sliced bread. But that's what you get when you're a fan of a smaller Division 1 school and have the first player drafted from that school in nearly 40 years.

I'm just wondering what your perspective is on the pick and what you think Nicholson's prospects are for the upcoming season?

Honestly, I know this sounds crazy, but I said all the way through Nicholson's miraculous senior season at St. Bonaventure (carried them to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2001) that he reminded me of Kevin Garnett. And that's in style of play, not insane personality.

The kid can block shots inside and play hard-nosed defense, but also has developed a jump shot that stretches to the collegiate 3-point line that could be developed into a strong pick-and-pop game in the NBA if the Magic choose to do so.

Obviously they saw something in him or they wouldn't have taken him in the first round, but I'm wondering what you guys expect from him this year?
