Knicks pursuing to rent Howard now too??
Read somewhere that the Knicks are pursuing a deal to rent Howard by swapping Amare with us. Also said that would most likely mean shipping Chandler for Hedo and his contract. I dont know the credibility of it or if it's even possible but how does everyone feel if it happened and our lineup? I like Chandler on the inside but its Amare and his knees that worry me.
PG- Nelson
SG- JRich
SF- Ryno
PF- Amare
C- Chandler

Anytime I read a quote from SVG, I always read it in my best impression of his voice
Ryan can't play the 3.
Everyone needs to stop pretending he can.

There are also indications that Brooklyn isn’t viewed as the only avenue for Howard to give Adidas a foothold in New York. With the Knicks (2-4) off to an abysmal start — losing at home to Toronto and Charlotte this week on the second night of back-to-backs for both substandard teams — already there are rumblings of discord on the coaching staff. The confusion and lack of commitment to new defensive assistant Mike Woodson’s schemes is painfully evident — “We’re trying to improvise on the fly, and you can’t do that,” defensive stalwart Tyson Chandler said — as is the tenuous situation for head coach Mike D’Antoni. If the acquisition of Anthony last February wasn’t evidence enough, the addition of Woodson has only underscored how D’Antoni’s influence within the organization has waned. D’Antoni is coaching in the final year of his contract without an extension offer forthcoming, an issue that threatens to consume whatever momentum the Knicks built last season.
If the Knicks keep struggling, the focus will spread from the coaching to the roster, and sources advise not to be surprised if the notion of a possible deal sending Amar’e Stoudemire to Orlando for Howard gains traction. If the Magic opt to convert Howard into a superstar of reasonably comparable stature, they could do a lot worse than selling Stoudemire — a central Florida native — to their restless fan base. The biggest issue would be Stoudemire’s uninsurable knees, but there is risk involved in every scenario Orlando will be presented with between now and March 15. From the Knicks’ standpoint, such an arrangement would break up the ill-fitting offensive combo of Stoudemire and Anthony and allow the versatile Chandler to move to the power forward spot, where he’d be a terror as a weak-side shot blocker and in Stoudemire’s spot as the roll man in D’Antoni’s pick-and-roll offense. A deeper question exists in whether Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan would sign off on trading Stoudemire, who was the only star willing to commit to the Knicks and embrace the challenges of New York in July 2010. For the aforementioned reasons, sources say it’s plausible but unlikely that the Knicks and Orlando would be able to get any such talks off the ground. For one thing, it makes too much sense.
If Howard leaves no matter who we get, it won't be as good as him, so I don't care.
If we didn’t win it all with Dwight we won’t do it with whoever we get. Unless they trade him for Durant or D Rose, give me picks, rookies and sophomores.

Which team doesn't want Howard?
"I'm a little dysfunctional
You're the problem, Please don't awakin me
And I'm that way cause back in the day
Most have forsaken me"
The Packers. But I heard the Colts are interested.
I don't get the whole 'pop-tart cats pooping rainbows thing,' but then, I'm old. So, there it is.

It seems like every trade scenario for D12
has a player with injury concerns involved – Lopez, Bynum, Amare S, and Curry.
Goes to show you how little leverage other teams (and the media) think the Magic has in all this.
They know Howard’s value, but think the Magic are desperate enough to take any offer.

exactly. there are three legit trades.
Bynum and Gasol. Or Lamarcus Aldridge. Or Griffen and Jordan.
Roll Bass and War Ryno for me
If I Was the Knicks
Id strongly consider Amare and Chandler for Howard…but only if there was some sort of verbal, under the table, guarentee from Deron Williams that he would come to the Knicks…
There is no way I would take Turks contract tho

I feel like Deron and Dwight are a package deal
Is there any chance of a 3 team trade between NJ, Orlando and Golden State with say Curry, Ellis and Lee getting shipped out and Howard and Williams going to GS

That presumption needs to be questioned...both men have different goals
DWill has already stated that he doesn’t care about the bright lights and big city because for him it does not create financial gain. He is married with four children and his priorities are that (aka $ and comfort) and to win. He has already said that he can make more money in Texas and Florida because his main revenue source is his paycheck not sponsorships.
Howard’s ego/personality requires him to be the center of constant attention. He has said he wants to win, but all facts point to the obvious discrepancy in that statement. It is more like his priority is to win AS LONG as it is in a major market that does not conflict with his key sponsor’s agenda (Adidas). He wants to win, make max basketball and endorsement money, and have max global media attention.
Howard and Williams have two conflicting agendas; the only overlap is that they both want to win. That does not mean that the only way to win is for them to play together – far from it.
Just saying….the only way im breaking up Amare, Melo and Chandler…would be to upgrade in 2 spots…

The ability to combine DWill+ D12 is nearly impossible for all teams except for Dallas or NJ...and they know that - so neither of those 2 teams will help anyone.
But your statement about NY (Chandler + Amare) seems possible – especially if D’Antoni’s system doesn’t start producing results real soon. In my opinion, Melo/Amare/Chandler in a D’Antoni system vs Miami or Chicago’s complete system (offense/defense) in a 7 game series = elimination when they face either of those teams.
+ Chandler and Amare both have injury histories and are both 29. I think the Knicks would trade that pair if they had a Howard commitment to resign. Two mega stars like Melo and Howard (both just entering their prime) guarantees deep runs for a much longer window and makes more financial sense than the two long term deals of the aging Amare/Chandler.
..but do the Magic want that?
Short answer? NO!
But, it does raise to question if another NY team desperate for a big name (Nets?) may be able to jump in and take on Amare for some pieces/picks. I’d go for Chandler+ goodie bag from Nets for Howard. Better than “Broke” Lopez. At least we KNOW what we get from Chandler, startin w/a championship swagger.

plus...
That trade guarantees we can unload Turk+J-rich and get back a backup for Reddick from Nets. Reddick can more than handle the starting job for a season of re-build.
