Orlando Magic at New Orleans Hornets Game Preview

Orlando Magic at New Orleans Hornets, Jan 27, 2012 8:00 PM EST

The Orlando Magic can rebound from their second deflating loss to the Boston Celtics in three days on Friday when they take on the New Orleans Hornets. After losing Chris Paul and David West over the summer, New Orleans faces a full rebuild mode. Unfortunately for it, Eric Gordon, the star shooting guard it received from the Los Angeles Clippers in the Paul trade, has appeared in just two games due to knee injury. As a result, the Hornets are simply awful offensively.

Friday's is Orlando's fourth game in five nights, and the schedule hardly relents from there: the Magic have an off day Saturday, but then play yet another back-to-back Sunday and Monday. Orlando must take advantage of this opportunity to fatten up: New Orleans has lost nine straight games and has won just once at home in 10 tries.

New Orleans is 1-14 this month

The Magic are 4 point favorites, with an over/under of 177 1/2 (http://sportsbook.com).

Chicago Blackhawks... 2010 Stanley Cup Champions, and contenders for 2012
Chicago Bears... as many playoff wins this year as Green Bay... zero
Orlando Magic... 2009 Eastern Conference Champions, and contenders for 2012

This worries me more than anything.

Teams on long losing streaks have to win eventually and the Hornets have lost 9 in a row.

I’ve got a really bad feeling about this one.

I'm torn. Is JJ Redick the White Mamba or the White Ray Allen?

no, parts 1 and 2 were good, but he completely screwed the pooch on the 3rd one.

I understand that some changes will be made from book to movie, but the 3rd part was so off the wall it wasn’t even funny.

as a stand alone movie I would have no problem with it, it was good in the sense of entertainment and story.

But as a fan of the book, I died a little inside after watching it.

so lemme share my terrifying dream I had during my afternoon nap

my parents and I were in a helicopter/zeppelin mashup thing and my mom (then dad) were steering/flying it, but then we started losing fuel? I think? and my mom wanted to fly higher to avoid other helizepplers but my dad wanted to land in a pool of water.

My dad starts flying towards the pool but my mom freaks—she really didn’t want to land in the water so my dad aims for landing on the roof of a nearby parking garage. Except by now we’re completely out of fuel and we start careening towards the side of the garage. We slam right into the floor below the roof and do I wake up at this point? OH NO.

We start flipping over and over, barrel-rolling essentially, and I’m getting dizzy and sick, everything is black, and I FEEL MY LEFT LEG BREAK and the BONE GO THROUGH THE SKIN. I hear my mom and dad gurgling, like they’re choking to death on their own blood, and we’re still rolling and it’s horrible and dark and ONLY THEN. do I wake up.

/cool story bro

He definitely cannot create his own shot. The second I see him start to dribble, I groan and die a little bit inside.

Agreed.

I really feel that it was Davis that Dwight was talking about in last nights post game comments. He talked about guys trying to “take over” when they were in trouble – and all I could remember were those 4 possessions in a row where Big Baby shot really quick jumpers as soon as the ball got into the offense.

Your teem need to look good, need a win against a "quality" team?

Come play the Orlando Magic!

Your team will automatically win the PG matchup, the SG matchup, and most likely the SF and PF matchup. Yes the C matchup may be daunting, but our best player does not care!

You don’t have to worry about our bench scoring either, just make Duhon and Davis play a two man game.

In the off chance you are not winning against the Magic, just quickly insert your backups and apply backcourt pressure.

The Orlando Magic, get your win TODAY!

Because jameet has been tearing it up?

Duhon has 4 assist and 3 boards. Much .better than Nelson

I wish duhon would get the ball up the court faster

It usually takes him a good 6 seconds to get past half court then he dribbles for a while and our offense is left with about 12 seconds to get a good shot

HEY

I’VE GOT IT. The Magic are playing horribly on purpose to give Dwight a better excuse to demand a trade and the better likelihood of that happening so that he can leave for his bigger market and we can get back to being mediocre!

Can't hate Stan, there are no better available coaches out there... unless, his cycle is over.

If his cycle is over, then bringing a coach, any coach, might change things up a bit.

But yeah, I was talking about Jason “4 more years of this crap” Richardson

Dwight needs to take a look in the mirror...

The past 2 loses look completely mental… The team looks nothing like it did 3 weeks ago, it’s bad. Dwight either needs to leave or leave his negative comments to himself.

If we lost a game last year, it was nothing but positive reinforcement to come back and win. This year I cringe at a lose to hope it doesn’t negatively impact Howard and his decision to stay in orlando. I can only imagine the tension and awkwardness in the locker room. I am starting to feel bad for the players that have put made the commitment to stay in Orlando, yet have to be graded by Dwight every night.

I want Dwight to stay, but not if the team will need psychiatric treatment after every loss. Man up
