Denver says, no.
Denver is 12-5 and playing well. Andre Miller is a huge part of that. Plus George Karl believes in the two point guard system.
And the two principle players (jason richardson and andre miller), Andre is playing significantly better basketball. 16.3 PER 1.3 WS to 12.6 PER .7 WS. And he is cheaper $7.8 Million owed vs $24 Million.
Hell, they just gave Afflalo a $39 Million deal. Why would they trade for a 3-year-old “declining” SG to take minutes away from their younger better SG that they are paying almost $40 million over the next 5 years?
Sorry. Not happening.

Didnt like the J-Rich re-signing to begin with
Glad that he’s proving me right
I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?
What?
I didn’t care for the JRich signing much myself, but I was hoping he’d prove me wrong not right. So you want him to suck just to prove you right?

lol. rec'd for plucky-ness.
I don't get the whole 'pop-tart cats pooping rainbows thing,' but then, I'm old. So, there it is.
I would totally love for a deal where we can shift Jameer to a Jason Terry-like role.
But a deal that works for both teams isn’t available right now. At least, it doesn’t seem that way. Sure, there can be a deal to be had that comes out of nowhere, like the D-Will trade, but it would be a surprise to say the least.
I do think we just need a point guard at the level of someone like Andre Miller or Kyle Lowry, not a D-Will type. But again, I don’t trust Otis in making it happen.

How I look at it
Just make Turkoglu our pg on offense, Wafer pg on defense and bring the ball up occasionally just to hand it Turk (or JJ when he’s in the game) and let Meer be the #1 option in the 2nd unit. There’s not enough ball for both Turk and Meer on the same lineup when we have to make a conscious effort of getting the ball in to Dwight.

I'm okay with the principle in theory.
With the exception of Wafer playing D against starting PG’s. shudder

It's not Jameer is an awesome defender.
Wafer is pretty bad too. But I think it’s easier to pick up someone eles’ slack in the middle of the court than it is on the wing. Being that pgs are hardly ever calling a play from the wing area, that idea might disguise our weak front a little bit. Plus the opposing pg won’t be able to see clearly over our “pg” if Wafer is inserted.

No, they'll just blow by him or get hacked by Wafer or catch him out of position on rotations often.
I never said Jameer was a good defender. But his biggest weakness was (and still is) getting posted up by beefier PG’s. Well, the landscape has shifted towards small, quick PG’s, so that doesn’t happen nearly as much anymore. As long as Jameer plays smart (and has the conditioning to maintain a good pace), then he’ll be fine like he always is.

Thats gonna be any worse than Jameer playing D??

Quite possibly??
I mean, honestly, the “Jameer Nelson is terrible” drum has been beaten to death for years, despite the team having a great record with him as a starter. He’s been more inconsistent in the last year or so, but who knows how much of that is his actual abilities and how much of it is Otis trying to replace him with Gilbert Freakin’ Arenas first and then stories swirling about trying to trade for several different PG’s. Dude’s a human, and confidence is an important factor for every athlete.
Would it be great to upgrade at PG? Sure enough would. Would it be great to upgrade at SG or backup C or back-up SF or GM? Sure enough would. But until that’s a reality (and I don’t see many teams lining up to offer a good, young PG for our overpaid ballast), why don’t we try freaking supporting players who have been here for years and worked hard to try to win a title for this franchise?

This a million times
You’ve articulated exactly what I’ve been thinking. I am getting sick and tired of reading all of the negative comments that repeat themselves ad nauseum.
If the Magic must trade Dwight, Hedo better stay. He needs to retire a Magic.
This is what "The Decision" has wrought
Since Lebron’s last year, 90% of all basketball energy is about which star players are going where (as long as it is a prominent market anyway). It used to be there might me be some noise at the trade deadline or during the summer, but now it is just the constant background noise of every game and every week and it sucks. It sucks hard.
The worst part is that I don’t see any end to it. Perhaps when the new penalties kick into place over the next 18 months (just in time for the Magic to lose Dwight but have difficulty replacing him), it will calm down, but I have my doubts.
I'm torn. Is JJ Redick the White Mamba or the White Ray Allen?
