Totally agree, but this sort of setup always feels like a trap game.
Home team been playing poorly, role players getting more minutes (and confidence they won’t be pulled off the court) filling in for missing guys. Totally ripe for some statistical anomalies.
Magic should have this, but games like this are all downside for the Magic.

The Celtics are going to give it everything they got. Let’s hope the Magic don’t look at the record and the injuries and let down.
Defense has been picking up a bit recently. I hope to see that trend continue in Boston tonight. Especially because I hate Boston, but ESPECIALLY because I love defense.

With Boston having such a bad year, and with all their injuries...

I can’t remember the last time the Magic were favorites to win in Boston, let alone by 6 1/2 points.
Boston is 0-6 this season against teams with a winning record, with four of those losses coming at home.
Boston leads the league in three point percentage at 42.7%, but a lot of that is due to Ray Allen, who will miss the game. The Magic are second at three point shooting, making 40.1% of their attempts.

Just really have to weather the opening storm.
With all of the adversity the home team is bound to have a shot at some extra oomph. If you can keep them at bay to start you can keep the crowd out and demoralize them.

Unfortunately, our offense makes us easy to guard when an opposing team knows what they're doing...
…Guard Dwight, don’t leave 3 point shooters, and we have no counter.
Our problems start before that.
We routinely get the ball over the mid court line just before an 8 second call. Our offense doesn’t even get going most possessions with more than 10 seconds on the shot clock – and then things REALLY slow down.

Exactly.
This was exactly what I was afraid up there way on my comment before the game started. Their guys have every reason to play all out, the Magic have no upside. If they win, they are supposed to. If they don’t, they are embarrassed. All of the pressure is on them while the Celtics have guys just aching for a chance to play and no one expects them to win.

You know what I hate?
When the Magic miss a few three-pointers and start acting like that’s not a part of their game. It’s not like the Celtics were playing any kind of outstanding perimeter defense or anything… they got a few open looks, didn’t convert, and seemingly just decided, “oh, well, those aren’t going in.”
That’s not how it works. A good shot is a good shot, and will continue to be a good shot. If you were being defended well, that’s one thing. But if you pass up open threes — or stop looking for them — because a couple open threes don’t go in, that’s like refusing to keep flipping a coin because you flipped it three times and called it wrong all three. Moreover, if you rip out the part of your game plan where you try to shoot threes, you end up having to rewrite the playbook on the fly, and things get really disjointed.

Oh in no way am I pinning it on him.
Our team is just not up to par. I think we need 2 new starters to go with Howard. All positions are up for grabs at this point but starting C.
Bringing up the ball doesn't have an off night.
He can’t pass off double teams and pressure from back court. There’s a reason why DH wants CP3 and Deron.

unbelievable – a professional athlete saying that to an opponent – he is DONE!

oh no. what a lousy move by bradley. nelson is bradley's opponent but he's also his collegue
and he just took a huge, conspicuous dump on him. even if you think nelson sort of deserves it by playing terribly, thats a bad move by bradley i think.

Yeah, Jameer pissed the game away.
Not, y’know, the entire team who played terribly. Or Stan who didn’t have an adjustment to answer Boston’s pressure. Things get said during the course of a game all the time. Sometimes it’s some vicious trash talk, sometimes it’s playful banter. Even if it did “get in his head”, Jameer’s one player. The entire team’s psyche shouldn’t be affected by just Jameer’s.
It was an awful, awful game, but it’s something called an “outlier”. Go check out the definition.
