Trading Dwight for Bynum and D Will

Reports say that Nets will only trade Williams if Howard is traded to LA (they know they will not be able to retain him). Williams admitted he would consider Dallas and Orlando (provided Howard is still there). So I propose the following trade (and I know it is not easy to get a 4 team trade but it seems plausible):

Orlando Gives D12, Jameer, Turk and J Rich

NJ gives D Will

LA give Bynum, Gasol and Barnes

Huston gives Scola, Martin, Dragic (just what they were willing to give, back in the CP3 trade that was vetoed)

NJ gets Jameer Nelson, Martin and Dragic (remember that they will have no option to retain D Will if D12 goes to LA, at least they get reasonable compensation and better players than those they traded for D Will).

LA gets D12, Turk and Scola (they get D12, enough said, but they also get a good replacement for Gasol)

Huston gets Gasol and J. Rich (could also be Reddick instead. Essentially they get better return than in the initial CP3 deal).

Orlando gets D Will, Bynum and Matt Barnes. (I can't think of a better realistic -not ideal- return for Howard than this. We shed Turk's contract and we get the 2nd best big -consolation at least and he is playing well right now- and a great PG. Deron might be persuaded to resign with the Magic, for we will have a core team of Bynum -2nd best big-, Anderson and Reddick- which are constantly improving and playing great- and we will have cap space to sign someone in 2012 FA, which will be loaded, maybe Gerald Wallace).

I know Nets fans will complain that they will not be getting sufficient return for Deron Williams, but they have to keep in mind that if they can't sign Howard, DWill is gone, so this will probably be the best return they will get, especially if the magic pull this next to the trade deadline.

What do you guys think??

I don't think Dwill would go to Orlando if no Dwight

He probably wants to go home and Dallas look pretty good even presently constructed.

Nj will trade Dwill if he says he won’t resign. The are stupid if they don’t. Regardless of where Dwight goes if he doesn’t end up in NJ.

If Dwill is willing to come to Otown Orlando could put a package together for him. But Dwight has to want it too. Unfortunatly it probably means losing reddick or Anderson.

Thanks for the post. I am assuming we can’t retain Dwight. I think he is being pushed to a bigger market by Adidas. If he wants to win he can definitively stay in Orlando, all he has to say is “I’m staying” and Dwill will instantly come to Orlando: the Nets will have no choice but to trade him to either Orlando or Dallas (apparently his preferred destinations), but Orlando can offer a reasonable package as to what the Mavs can. Orlando is one player away from being serious contenders and that player could easily be D Will.

The thing is I’m trying to find something reasonable for losing Dwight and not feel as depressed….

and Williams strikes me as a straight forward guy. I think that if asked “Would you resign with Orlando under these conditions?” he will be honest, so I think it might be plausible to pull this. Of course, it isn’t easy, but losing Dwight demands something like this…

Not really a bad plan

I think Jersey could likely do better though, even under those circumstances.

Keep Hedo

Not sure about that, if they can’t get dwight I think they lose D Will, especially if you consider the way they are playing…

though I’m open to see who would be willing to give more for D Will..

My only issue is...

and it may be a typo, but your scenario has D Will to Orlando & D12 to L.A. Unless you were proposing we rent D Will, then that won’t work. I think Otis is playing a high stakes poker game with the NJ office to see who folds 1st and trades their superstar to keep from losing him for nothing. The only difference is NJ has some cap space now, and more come July. If I were pulling the strings, I would be selling a trade package with 15 picks if necessary to get D WIll, as that will UNDOUBTEDLY keep the pair in Orlando.

It is possible.

Like any other 10 billion possibilities :-)

Dwight has apparently added the Clips.

I would take a trade of Dwight for Jordan, Griffin, and Eric Bledsoe. The question is would the Clips? I would even give them Ryan Anderson if we got those three players. Have Justin Harper as the backup 4. Everyone wins in that trade. Clips become legit contenders and Orlando has someone to keep them “box office” if you know what I mean.

Roll Bass and War Ryno for me

Clippers aren't giving up Griffin

And I doubt any player wants to play for Donald Sterling.

This is just another article quoting “sources close to Dwight Howard.”

I'm torn. Is JJ Redick the White Mamba or the White Ray Allen?

by EnnBee on Jan 16, 2012 6:57 PM EST up reply actions

At initial taste, you are right about the Clippers not giving up Griffin

But seriously though, even in this unlikely scenario, if it was a swap of Griffin and spare parts for Dwight, the Clippers would be nuts to not to do the trade. Griffin is just a big man’s version of Vince Carter while Dwight is built for contending for championships.

If the Magic must trade Dwight, Hedo better stay. He needs to retire a Magic.

I completely agree with this.

Also, I’d love to see how Dwight feels about playing for Donald Sterling after living it up here in Orlando.

Glen Davis just gave you a hard pick for forgetting about him in your scenario (he would be the backup power forward)

For making such a rookie mistake, he would then make you give a presentation to the team on what family means.

The reason why this is extremely dumb is

if Deron won’t stay in NJ without Dwight.. why would he stay in orlando without Dwight? Think
