Magic CEO Alex Martins answers questions about Dwight Howard
The most intriguing part of this interview is how Martins explains that Dwight Howard was 10th among all pro athletes in $$ made last year (salary+endorsements), and then goes on to specify that 5 of the 9 athletes above him on that list are in "small markets". This sheds even more light on the "real" reason behind Howard's trade request, which he STILL has not admitted to. I'm not claiming to be sure about what the reason is, I'm just saying none of the reasons given are making sense right now. It's a great interview and worth the view.

I don't think Dwight has ever said it was about money
He knows he can make all the money he needs in Orlando.
Thanks for posting
Interesting interview. You can tell that he is more of a PR guy than a basketball guy, but that could work in our advantage. He certainly makes some good points. I also feel that it’s the money and the bright lights more than it is Dwight’s desire to win, or at least it is for those who have his ear. I do hope I am wrong though.
Proudly delusional...
If your were a 25 year old celebrity multi millionaire, what city would you want to live in?
Orlando is nice and everything, and has nice lakefront property plus a handful of decent clubs and restaurants but seriously it is not even 1/100th of the playground that NY or LA are. Its not just infrastructure, weather and taxes…. its who goes there, who he gets to hang with and what type of events and parties he gets to attend etc. Only NY, LA (and Miami) offer a ‘celebrity millionaire’ lifestyle.
Big market is pr code for bigger playground.
Dallas is only in the picture because of DWill and if the other two choices fall through he still has option to go a bigger than Orlando ‘market’ and the Mavs have the capacity to pair him with another star. In my opinion this is the only tough choice Dwight would have, the other two are no brainers for a 25 yr old celebrity millionaire.
How often can 26 year old millionaires party during the season?
I mean, I get what you’re saying and it’s a completely valid point that may sway Dwight or any player. However, the reality is as a player you are on the road half the time and attending games and practices when home. There is a limit to what you can realistically do with regards to nightlife – especially if your goal is to be a hall of fame type player. It would make a lot more sense financially to live in NYC or LA in the offseason and play in Orlando.
Although, ironically, lots of players (like Shaq did) do just the opposite by living in Orlando when they don’t have to be in town for their team.
I'm torn. Is JJ Redick the White Mamba or the White Ray Allen?

I was thinking essentially the same thing...
Besides, by not playing in the eyes of the worst paparrazi’s (NYC, LA, etc.), you dodge the negative publicity, but can still have a condo in the big city to hang out when he’s not “working”. He’s a millionaire for Christ sake!! Have the best of both worlds!
