Knicks 114, Magic 106: Carmelo Anthony rips Orlando with 40 points

Carmelo Anthony and DeQuan Jones - USA TODAY Sports

Anthony's 40 points were too much for the Magic's defense, but the game went down to the wire. The Magic squandered an eight-point lead entering the fourth.

The MVP chants for New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony resonated throughout the Amway Center on Saturday night as they extended the Orlando Magic's losing streak to eight games, their longest since February 2006. The final score was 114-106.

Anthony scored 16 of his game-high 40 points in the fourth quarter to help New York erase an eight-point deficit.

The Magic shot 62.5 percent in the first quarter and built a 14-2 lead at one point despite their overall inefficient offense on the season. They finished the period with 36 points, a season-high.

Coming off a season-high 32 points, Jameer Nelson continued his efficient shooting streak behind the three point line, making 5-of-9 attempts. Nelson has posted doubled-digits in his last five contests, averaging 23.8 points per game.

Nikola Vucevic notched his 15th double-double of the season. He scooped up a game-high 18 rebounds, but was limited offensively shooting five-of-12 from the field.

Rookie small forward Maurice Harkless made an appearance in Saturday's game after two consecutive Did Not Play-Coach's Decisions. He tallied two points, an assist, a steal, a block, and a turnover.

Orlando will travel to face the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday at 10 PM.
