Magic 90, Pistons 74: Orlando's third-quarter rally seals the win

The Orlando Magic cruised past the Detroit Pistons, handing them their 10th loss of the season.

The Orlando Magic (4-8) throttled the Detroit Pistons (2-10) on Wednesday night with a tremendous third-quarter run (26-8) to help them record their fourth win of the season. Despite another slow first-half start as the Magic trailed by as many as 10 points, they adjusted themselves and came out with more energy for the second half.

But it was the third quarter that determined the game in Orlando's favor. With that being said, the Magic tied their franchise mark for fewest points allowed in a third quarter with 8 by the Pistons. The fewest points allowed in any quarter by Magic is 6. The last time the Magic allowed 8 points in the third quarter was on February 10, 1999 against the New Jersey Nets (per George Galante via Twitter).

Orlando had five players score in double-digits Wednesday:

Rookie power forward Andrew Nicholson scored a team-high 15 points (seven-of-nine from the field) and also had a nice posterizing dunk on Pistons' forward Charlie Villanueva. Behind him was Arron Afflalo, who scored 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds and committed only one of the 14 turnovers for the Magic.

J.J. Redick and Jameer Nelson combined for 14 of the Magic's 24 assists. Redick and Nelson were also the other two Magic players to score in double-digits (11 and 10, respectively).

More notably however, Glen Davis registered a double-double scoring 11 points of his own and recorded a game-high 14 rebounds.

On the Pistons' end, center Greg Monroe was the only bright-spot and scored a game-high 19 points (9 of his points coming from free throws).

The Magic will continue their five-game homestand Friday at 7 PM as they face the Cleveland Cavaliers.
