Drown your sorrows here.
Well, it's the doldrums now. The league occasionally meets with the players, the players occasionally put on an exhibition, the fans try to watch FIBA or get really into college football season.
Yep, this is a lockout.
So, why fight it? Let's embrace the pain, shall we? In the comments, you can talk about what you miss/will miss the most because of this lockout. What are we, the fans, losing? What is it that this lockout really takes away from us? In the words of the bard:
"Give sorrow words. The grief that does not speak
Whispers the o'er-fraught heart, and bids it break."
Is this premature? I don't care.
For my part, there are four things that I think I shall miss by not having a season. 1. Dwight Howard playing for the Magic one more time. Yep, I think he's probably leaving. 2. Jason Kidd not getting one more season. He said he's retiring if the whole season is locked out, and he's always been one of my favorite players to watch. 3. The Mavericks not getting to really defend their title. I think an extra year off really reshapes the NBA landscape. 4. One less year of watching Miami play. No, I do not like them. Yes, I do like to watch them play basketball. The two are not mutually exclusive.
That's all I've got off the top of my head: anyone else?

I miss getting excited about the coming season
October has long been my favorite month for two reasons. The sting of summer heat and humidity takes its first downward turn around mid-month and I know I have the whole winter (Florida version) ahead of me. And I know that preseason is around the corner. Seeing Paul Kennedy for the first time of the new season is always a thrill. Setting my evening schedule for that first game so that I’m hiding in a back room of the house with a TV to myself will be missed. I guess I won’t turn the damn thing on for a long time.
I'll miss this too.
I mean, reading the thread the day after the game wherein you had an entire conversation with yourself.
I don't get the whole 'pop-tart cats pooping rainbows thing,' but then, I'm old. So, there it is.
That was priceless.
I will miss all our fun here.
I like to watch.

The cheerleaders dissapeared!
So I’ll have to drive up the comment count myself.
Maybe I’m going about this the wrong way. What about the positive things we get from missing a season . . . like . . . we delay having to hear Shaq as a commentator for several months!

Now that the cheerleader disappeared...
…no reason to look at this fanpost anymore.
Just kidding.
Seriously, I wonder why Evan deleted that picture. It was of a Magic Dancer, which was in no way inappropriate to this fanpost of things we’ll miss during the lockout, IMO. I thought it was very clever of the person who posted it.

I think the lockout is causing fans to go on vacation too.
Plus, a lot of people are temporarily driven off, fearing more ridiculous trade FanPosts.
It’s just too sad to think about basketball in any shape for me. I’ve been watching NBA Hardwood Classics and getting into La Liga and EPL soccer to sustain me.

Proud Jameer and Rashard apologist since '07
Haven't kept up over the past month, but I thought La Liga was about to have some type of lockout also?
Orlando Magic. Oregon Ducks. Seattle Mariners. Jacksonville Jaguars.
Fixed. They are playing.
They actually fix their lockouts rather quickly.
Roll Bass and War Ryno for me
This is a blessing in disguise for me. I miss the entertainment aspect - which I couldn't resist - but now get a ton of work done with the extra time gained.
Additionally, I don’t have to deal with my blood boiling with the “sight and sound” of Otis Smith, as well as with witnessing my beloved hometown team in disarray.
This sucks
Especially because I was actually excited about the draft picks this year. I think both will make the team. I think both address certain needs of the team. Love free agency. Love going to the arena to watch some games. Just love basketball a lot. Especially right now. There are uber talented players all over the league right now. In their primes. The NBA has literally never been better talent wise. Teams I thought should be the NBA shut me right up with a deep playoff run, Memphis. Sacramento has a ton of talent. The NBA is in such a great place, freaking lockout.
Roll Bass and War Ryno for me
However
There is college football, football, and Euro soccer to watch. So I will survive.
Roll Bass and War Ryno for me
Right... life does go on
As much as I’ll miss everything related to Orlando Magic Basketball, and also the NBA in general, I have Chicago Bears Football and Chicago Blackhawks Hockey to focus on!
