Magic decline Orton option
Buried in this blog post from Sham Sports is the news, not reported anywhere else, that the Magic have decided not to take up Dan Orton's 2012 rookie scale option.
This means Orton will be a free agent in summer 2012.
Good drafting, Otis!

Love that we've got this post and "Daniel Orton Cleared to Play" in the same FanShot list.
I don't get the whole 'pop-tart cats pooping rainbows thing,' but then, I'm old. So, there it is.
They haven't declined his option.
They just haven’t exercised it yet.

This means.. the team is definitely looking for a backup centre now
and not counting on Orton.
If they haven't exercised yet...
It means that they don’t need to just yet. Hard pressed to believe any team would let a young big just walk all to save a pittance from a rookie salary. He hasn’t even played yet. They’ll pick it up. This isn’t news.
