Jameer Nelson: A part of me was surprised to hear his name pop up in draft-day trade rumors, but the Magic have a huge payroll and he is a tradeable piece. His game has declined a bit since 2009, but he's still one of the better point guards in the league. Maybe a swap involving Odom and Nelson works for both teams.

What does OPP Nation think about this trade idea?
Mr. Prada thinks that Odom is expendable because the Triangle offense is no longer in use in LA and the Lakers are in dire need of a PG. Odom would fit in our system, but would we be getting too late? He’s going to turn 32 in November…
I think we lose our if we get Odom and lose Nelson. A straight up trade like that I think is a net-win for the Lakers
But I can’t believe the idiots in Los Angeles who think a Dwight-Bynum trade is feasible. And that Lakers is Dwight’s first option if he does leave. It totally ignores what he’s said before about ‘forging his own legacy’.
And the argument “oh the Lakers have a history of big men with Shaq, Kareem and Wilt”… eff that they also had Kwame Brown and Radmanovic.
Yeah...
it amazes me how Lakers fans think that they can trade Bynum for Howard straight up. REALLY?!? A future HOF Center for a guy who’s worse in all areas of the game and can’t stay healthy for half a season? Child, please! My guess is that since they signed Shaq away from us, they think they’ll take Dwight away from us too even though the numbers (cap space, trade assets, etc.) won’t work out for them this time.
As for Nelson for Odom, hell no! We have complete crap behind Nelson and Odom, who’s unmotivated now, will probably be less motivated if he goes to a worse team. Only way I trade Nelson is if we get an upgrade at PG, or maybe an expiring in 2012 which rules out Odom since he expires the same year as Nelson (2013).
This is one of those trades that seems to work with regard to position and needs,
but I am not sure would work from a personality perspective.
Also, I agree that the hubris of the Lakers people is astounding.
I don't get the whole 'pop-tart cats pooping rainbows thing,' but then, I'm old. So, there it is.
