Around SBN: Now They've Screwed Spurs, UEFA Willing To Review Rule

Responding to speculation that he wants to jump to a bigger market when he can became a free agent next year, superstar center Dwight Howard indicated Monday that his strong preference is to remain with the Orlando Magic for the long term.

"I'm not trying to run behind nobody like Shaq or be behind somebody else," Howard said, referencing Shaquille O'Neal's decision to leave the Magic following the 1995-96 season and sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

You people won't stop, jeez.

Hey! It's a Nets Fan! Right?

"Basketball is a team game. But that doesn't mean all five players should have the same amount of shots." - Dean Smith

That's great and all, but I don't want to talk, hear or think about Dwight's contract anymore this year.

If we actually have a season in 2012, I’ll want to think about the season. With a new CBA, all the dynamics may be different. It’s kind of like worrying about getting alzheimers when you’re 12. It’s just too soon.

I suggest we pursue a different analogy altogether. Worrying about Dwight's contract is like:

wow

"Generally, when I draw the play, it's just who's going where. Maybe I have not made it clear enough that we would like the ball to go in the basket."

Well, I thought that was funny.

It's like worrying about losing your job while you're still in college and haven't gotten a job yet

It’s like writing a prenup when you haven’t met anyone, yet.
It’s like worrying about how much gas you have left in the tank right after you fill up.
It’s like worrying about round 2 of the playoffs during pre-season
It’s like checking the “sell by” date on beef when you’re a vegetarian. No…wait…it’s not like that at all.

But it IS like a lot of other stuff.

We’re beating a dead horse that hasn’t been born yet.

by MagicPhan on May 31, 2011 5:53 PM EDT up reply actions

you should start looking for a job before you leave school,
if you are rich, then it makes sense,
what if you have a gas leak,
this one makes the most sense,
what if you work at a grocery store,

but yes, this should be in the back of everybody’s mind until he signs an extension (and stay there)

by INTOTHEMEATGRINDER on May 31, 2011 7:23 PM EDT up reply actions

"Strong preference" does not mean he plans to stay.

He needs the “right teammates” and for the small market to become a big market.

I’m still laughing.

Is that all???

Yeah this is not great news for Magic fans… Just more justification by Dwight in why he would leave. Pairing up with the lame excuse of “the media is making me out to be like Shaq”

With the 15th pick, the Miami Dolphins select John Stamos....'s brother

"Strong preference" is exactly how I would tell him to word it, were I his agent.

Orlando’s front office has a big task ahead. Dwight can’t let them feel the least bit complacent in their responsibilities. I don’t doubt that he wants to stay, but he only has one career to live out. He was built to be a champion. Bob VDW and the rest have to feel the heat of this possibility that Dwight will leave if they don’t pull a rabbit out of their collective hats.

by MagicPhan on May 31, 2011 5:58 PM EDT up reply actions

How does it mean nothing? He's tired of hearing about it, just like we all are. He wants to stay. How is that a valueless statement?

Because despite his preference to stay in Orlando, he won't if the roster stays as putrid as it is currently.

IMO, the only thing that means anything is the roster situation between now and Feb. 2012.

These latest comments are just repeating what we already know …. he likes Orlando, isn’t pushing to leave at the moment, but wants some backing and a chance to win.

by CaliFlorida on May 31, 2011 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions

These statements are what he wants to see

A revamped roster and for Orlando to become a big market…. This isnt happening in a year people. When it doesnt Dwight will walk if we dont trade him first

I found it odd that Arenas was the only other magic player mentioned that was at the BBQ

Other guys could be on vacation

Also Gil was probably trying to inder(Spelling?) himself to the Orlando fans. I think Gil wants to stay here. I do not think he will though.

i am pretty sure its a lock

Nobody loses. Well the owners technically, but players would still get paid. But I am sure owners, especially their GM’s, would love to be able to get rid of excess baggage. Besides if owners want a hard cap they have to give themselves the ability to actually get under the cap. But yes too early. I won’t count my chickens buy ill probably count my cows /reverse Chic Fil A’d

Players would LOVE it.

Get paid in full, get to go to a new team and play for peanuts if need be, get paid by old team still. It’s like The Ultimate Buy-out clause.

Never been afraid to say what's on my mind at any given time of day. Renegade.
