Fran Vázquez vs. Real Madrid

Regal FC Barcelona dropped its fourth straight game, having lost five of its last six, with a defeat to arch-rival Real Madrid, 77-72, in overtime on the road this Saturday, April the 9th.

Orlando Magic’s Fran Vázquez came off the bench and logged 30:30 of playing time. Vázquez scored four points on 1-of-5 shooting from the field and 2-of-4 from the foul line, grabbed 13 boards, blocked three shots and drew three personal fouls.

It was a really tough game inside, with both teams playing physical, physical defense which explains the poor shooting. No look from five-feet in was a quality look and no layups were uncontested. By grabbing 13 of the team’s 35 rebounds, Vázquez was huge especially as Real Madrid struggled in the fourth-quarter.

Vázquez had a chance to hit the game winner, as he received the inbounds pass on the last possession of the game, couldn’t hand-off to anybody as Real Madrid extended the pressure and missed a contested 17-footer over the top of 7-foot-3 Ante Tomic pretty much as time expired.

With the defeat, Barça allows Real Madrid to reach them atop the ACB standings, as both now own a 23-6 record.
