Oh. No.

Bill Kennedy. Great.

The NBA says my avatar is not a flagrant foul. When Howard fouls players like this he gets T'd up.

Hopefully there will be an NFL season to showcase all the players that are going to be drafted

I would definitely take the Magic/Hawks game over the NFL draft, or any other sporting event tonight.

Chicago Bears... 2010 NFC Conference runners-up
Chicago Blackhawks... 2010 NHL Stanley Cup Champions
Orlando Magic... 2009 Eastern Conference Champions

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 28, 2011 5:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah.

I’ll probably watch the game and follow the draft online.

by GameManager on Apr 28, 2011 5:56 PM EDT up reply actions

The Magic are 2 point favorites to take it to a Game 7

…and a -130 favorite on the moneyline, with an over/under of 178 1/2 (sportsbook.com).

It would be great if the Magic can get off to a big lead in the first quarter like they did in Game 5, but with the game in Atlanta, I expect the Hawks to come out strong. If the Magic can weather the initial Hawks’ storm, I like the Magic’s chances of winning.

Chicago Bears... 2010 NFC Conference runners-up
Chicago Blackhawks... 2010 NHL Stanley Cup Champions
Orlando Magic... 2009 Eastern Conference Champions

Bookies are strange

Would have made the Hawks slight favourites at home to be honest. Might be worth a punt. Not that I would do something like gamble. Oh no.

by eltharion_doa on Apr 28, 2011 5:56 PM EDT up reply actions

The Magic have been favored in every game this series, if I'm not mistaken

Chicago Bears... 2010 NFC Conference runners-up

Orlando Magic... 2009 Eastern Conference Champions

Like, why would i hate them? we need a QB and RB

No first round corners or safeties will be available by the time we get to pick in the first round

by Hook'em34 on Apr 28, 2011 7:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Mallet will blow up and bust.

Ingram isn’t anything special, you could find a comparable running back in the later rounds.

Orlando Magic. Oregon Ducks. Seattle Mariners. Jacksonville Jaguars.

by 808duck on Apr 28, 2011 7:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah I could see Ingram falling in the draft.

Then again he’s the top RB in a horrible class of RB’s so maybe someone will reach for him based on need.

Orlando Magic. Oregon Ducks. Seattle Mariners. Jacksonville Jaguars.

by 808duck on Apr 28, 2011 7:17 PM EDT up reply actions

I like the RBs

Just nobody uses one RB these days so there’s no hype around them. I mean, there’s a Heisman winner in the draft and he’s projected to the second round.

by eltharion_doa on Apr 28, 2011 7:24 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't get the NFL draft

15 minutes of boredom followed by “who’s that?”

Then 2 minutes of highlights, and 13 minutes of boredom followed by “who’s that?”

And the cycle repeats.

im kindda of nervous!

in game five.. i was mentally prepared to lose 4-1.. but now that we have more chances to win the series.. im nervous about this game!!!

Atlanta are shooting under 35%

The D is, once again, not the problem.

Turnovers, lack of rebounding and typically awful shooting are the problem.

I simply do not understand how Otis can not be held accountable for tearing up a young and promising finals team with chemistry for this pathetic squad. What a joke. Dwight and the Stooges – that was the theme for this year’s team. If Howard leaves, I really don’t blame him. How does you entire team, other than Howard, go ice cold for an entire series? We have one of the top 5 centers to ever play the game in his prime and can’t put “something” around him? F ’in embarassing.

It was built around Lewis and Turkoglu, both of whom were on the downslopes of their career.

OK, now that it's all over I want someone to really explain me how JRich is better than Carter?

How Gilbert Arenas is preferable to Lewis? What is so especial about Ryan Anderson that Rashard couldn’t do it (despite injury)? How was this team more offensive than the previous one? Why lose Pietrus and Gortat, who played all the time, to Earl Clark who is not a rotation player?

How did the trade improve the team? in any way…

Here is where Otis failed...

Getting Rashard Lewis.

Im not going to get into the contract size, because that is irrelevant. The issue was his architecture. A great C needs to be surrounded by a dominant wing, not a dominant PF.

What the Magic should have done in 07 and should try to do in the next few years…

Get a dominant wing who can create, get a bruising PF who can bang. Nuff said.

Hmmm, surrounding a big man with shooters worked for the Spurs.

But I see your point.

Still, with Rashard the Magic reached the FInals and the ECF, without him: first round exit.

I am with you, when he signed Rashard it was said by most people "he overpaid", "this will cripple Orlando"

And it did. A center oriented offense is static, you need a dinamic player to break the offense. Shaq and Kobe, Starks and Ewing, Duncan and Manu. With Lewis we got a shooter and that was it. If you wanted a shooter you could have Kyle Korver or someone like that for much less money. Even the average slashers we had, we let them go: Ariza, C Lee, Matt Barnes. But we ended up with no cap flexibility and no legitimate wing threat. From then it was just downside. Now we must pray for CBA to save the franchise.

by Leandro on Apr 28, 2011 10:41 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not convinced

Rashard was purely a sharp shooter only. I really think he gradually was taken out of his element in Orlando. If you go back and look at his stats from his time in Seattle, he was a guy who got to the foul line at a decent rate. He attempted over 300 free throws in three different seasons including 428 attempts in 2005-2006. I understand he was brought here to shoot the three, but I think he got too focused on it and it hurt his game. Maybe the ailing knees had something to do with it, I don’t know.

Lewis was a lot more than a shooter

He earned every cent he was paid for the first two years of his deal.

I was a huge Rashard fan too.

But it would have been better to sit on the cap space, and play next year when the right pieces were available.

The Magic had (and still have) an up-and-comer MVP in Dwight. There was no need to go all-in in 2007. Look at the patience that OKC has displayed…

Now if the team sucks and can’t make the postseason, I understand…but to the player it makes no sense as well…they have a few year curve to the new team they go to. The Shaq situation was different, we essentially had two franchise players and the team really believed that losing Penny was worse. This is different, there is a building named Amway Center that has D12 written all over it.

Howard and Griffen would not be fair

"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."

by Atronic on Apr 28, 2011 11:54 PM EDT up reply actions

No, they don't

If they sign Howard to a max deal and Williams to a max deal, they’re going to be pushing the limit of the cap just with the other players they already have contracted. And that doesn’t even account for the four or five players they’re going to have to sign this summer just to get to the minimum roster for 2011/12.

And that’s assuming the new CBA stays at the same rough level of cap space – if it comes down, the Nets might not even have enough space to sign Howard as a FA.

If we trade him before next season, LA will have to eat at least one of our bad contracts for the sake of evening out the money.

Dwight still has A LOT of value. It’d take 2 out of Bynum/Gasol/Odom plus cash and picks for Dwight and Hedo/Gil. That’s just to get the conversation started.

Wherever Otis sends him.

The magic would be foolish to hang onto him through the season next year. They aren’t winning the chip next year and he’s NOT resigning.

Come on guys. Magic won’t trade the guy. He is 95% of the value of the franchise. If anything they max him out for 3+ years and keep trying. How the f do all you people think the Lakers sign him. KB8 is going to make 30 mill a season in a year! Have you seen odom and gasol’s contracts too? Quit shitting your pants.

Turning point

For me was when J-Rich played too far up on Joe Johnson and he blew by him for that reverse layup. Then obviously they got that lucky rebound at the end. That’s tough.

Shouldn’t of let them get a double digit lead in the first half.

True

Playing from behind is never easy. Also, upon farther review, J-Rich should have got that rebound.

coulda woulda shoulda

JJ should’ve knocked down that 3 too.

The real problem was early O-boards and not attacking the rim. Worked to perfection in game 5, didn’t do it consistently tonight.

D12’s presser was positive for Magic fans. Compare that to LePriss’ presser after getting whacked by Boston. Dude was sketchy as hell.

Going through this thread, I was honestly shocked

I liked the Bulls a lot. Rooted for them these past couple of years, but holy cow… I just don’t understand why anyone would get joy out of our elimination (outside of the Hawks).

I don’t know…really disappointed in the Bulls fans’ trolling. Thought they were better than that. Were any of our members trolling the Bulls blog? I doubt it.

This just makes me sadder :(

I'm a girl.

TMac’s available….maybe we can get GHill from Phoenix too. I’d love to have him and Shaquille back in their current conditions too. VC, D12, GHill, Shaq, and TMac…that’s a legendary lineup!!! And an OPP reader’s wet dream.

Ha

T-Mac could be the “tall point guard”. Carter the “athletic wing who gets his own shot”. Hill the “defensive wing stopper”. Shaq the “big post forward to make Orlando a traditional offense.”

It’s highly effective!

Call me crazy guys, but I think Dwight is going nowhere and he’ll resign. As much as he loves Orlando, he’s still trying to maximize his value generally. He can’t resign right now and if he says I’m staying affirmatively it might have management rest easy. He’ll put the issue to rest soon enough. Who knows, well see what the lockout/new CBA brings.
