Their is no avoiding it. No hiding from it. It's pretty obvious the Magic aren't gonna win a Championship with this roster. Well, I have some pretty simple solutions to what can help us get to the level we want to be at. First we need a lock down defender, second a big man to back up D12, and third, an upgraded 2 guard. How do we get this? 3 off-season moves should do it.
First, the Magic need a lock down defender. Who is that? May I present Shane Battier from the Memphis Grizzlies a veteran guy looking for a ring who can D up almost anyone in the league. The move? A sign and trade with the Griz. Send J.J. Redick, Hedo Turkoglu and B.Bass for Shane Battier and Zach Randolf. This would give the magic a top notch defender as well as a better 4 than Bass. The next thing that the Magic should do is not resign Jason Richardson and sign J.R. Smith. Rumors have it that he wants out of Denver and he could really help out both on the offense and defensive ends of the court. Now with trading away J.J. Redick and not having J-Rich that leaves the Magic with only one natural shooting guard. You could go 2 ways here. Draft a SG or hope for a free agent. Now a name that people have linked to the Magic, former superstar Michael Redd. Redd was one of the best players in the league 2 or 3 years ago. He could turn out either way. The Gilbert Arenas way, or the Brandon Roy way who has come back of knee surgery to lead his team. Grant Hill, Matt Barnes, or Tayshaun Prince are also some possible targets.
