Yet again Ric Bucher proves he is an idiot

MB4 (NJ)

Does the Dwight trade go down this summer or next deadline? And would you dismiss the Bulls b/c Rose likes his core as is + Dwight wants it to be his stage. On the court the Nets are the better option than the Lakers longterm but how big of a star does Dwight want to be?

Ric Bucher   (1:53 PM)

I would expect a Dwight trade this summer or before the next season starts, from what I'm hearing. Rose likes his core because it's the core he has. He's not opposed to the Bulls improving it.

Ryan (LA)

Should the Bulls go after Dwight Howard this summer if he pulls a Melo and the Bulls lose early? Noah and Boozer for Howard and Bass seems like a solid offer, right?

Ric Bucher   (1:59 PM)

Let's put it this way: Dwight should want to go to Chicago and play with Rose. That combo would be Kobe-Shaqesque. But from all I hear, Dwight is looking at LA or NJ. Nothing in between.

Expecting a Dwight trade this summer? Otis Smith has already said he would not trade him. Again unless Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum come in a package for him or LaMarcus Aldridge is offered(with Batum and/or Matthews) there is no way a trade will happen this summer or during the year.

Also here is another winner:

Adam (Chicago)

Does D Rose have a shot to be the best player in the NBA someday. I understand he will win the MVP this year, but no one is saying he is better than LeBron, Kobe, etc. My thinking is that he if far ahead of where LeBron and Kobe were in their 3rd years. Can you imagine what Rose might be with a few more years under his belt?

Ric Bucher   (2:17 PM)

Then let me be the one to say it: he's the best player in the NBA. Right now.

Oh boy......

I don't get it

Why do so many people on here grill analysts and sportswriters that don’t speak highly of Orlando, engage in trade rumors and critique Dwight?

by Ol' Uncle Munnerlyn on Apr 15, 2011 4:19 PM EDT reply actions

because when they are:

1) unfounded/not backed by facts
2) based purely on conjecture
or
3) just plain wrong

It can get rather annoying.

You think Dwight's going to get traded before next season starts?

You think Derrick Rose is the best player in the league?

No

But I find the bashing of writers based on their views of the Magic rather hilarious

These aren't views or opinions.

He is just trying to make waves and controversy. Rose is not the best player on the NBA. Otis Smith has said he is not trading Dwight. Who you are you gonna trust?? GM or some guy who wants Dwight in a major market? See he is an agenda. Yes I am a magic fan, but I’m not blind or stupid. Honestly for me, Dwight is staying or going to LA. Who the He’ll wants to play in Brooklyn? Deron Williams is not going to stay, so why would Dwight even go

I'd sure as hell hope Otis would trade Dwight

If he makes it clear he’s not staying beyond next season. Whether it’s during the offseason or during the season, doesn’t really matter. Bamboozling someone into a Carmelo-esque trade could be good for the team in the long run. I think you’re just telling yourself what you want to hear, honestly. Wouldn’t he want to play in Brooklyn? If Dwight is traded to Jersey, Deron would obviously stay as well. If Orlando loses this series against Atlanta and we see some more performances by the supporting case like we did tonight, as far as I’m concerned, Dwight’s California dreamin’.

You shouldn't be burned for writing a post about Dwight being traded

but giving any credence to anything Bucher said should get you flambeed.

If Redfield is OPP's best poster, and he's holding something back every night how can you say that doesn't affect OPP? He's their best guy! Your best guy leads! Your best guy sets the tone for everyone else! When Redfield cruises through game threads, makes dumb jokes, earns even dumber recs and disappears during debates (he doesn't even rank in the top 125 for insightful responses to trolls this season), you don't think that has anything to do with OPP's uneven season?

by Redfield on Apr 18, 2011 11:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Brooklyn is Brooklyn.

It’s not Manhatten. Brooklyn is not prestigious. And no I am not hearing what I want to hear. This guy said no way leBron was leaving. From his “sources”. How did that work out for him. Then he says Dwight should “want” to go to Chicago. Bucher is just a big market guy. Why would Dwight go play with Rose when he is the better player? How does he plan on going in an taking over the town and team when it belongs to Rose? Again use logic. Manhattan is the big New York market, NOT Brooklyn. Why would he play second fiddle to Melo and Amar’e for press time? Again makes no sense.

When you really look at it, to be honest only big market team with a possibility is dare I say it……..the Clippers?? They will have cap space and everything. But who wants to play for Donald Sterling? Nobody. Maybe if Houston clears a ton of cap space, that’s a pretty fair market and I could see Dwight and Deron Williams going there. Look both these guy are warm weather guys. Also if salaries are reduced they are going to want to play in non state tax states. How are rich people rich? They don’t spend their money and they live in states that don’t have state taxes. It makes a difference.

And get what?

Another team’s garbage that they don’t want? We’re not going to get anything close to the package Denver got for Melo. Please don’t tell me Brook Lopez or Andrew Bynum. Lopez avoids contact like crazy, plays zero defense, doesn’t rebound, and chucks up mid-range J after mid-range J. Bynum is an injury waiting to happen. If it comes to that, I’d much rather let Dwight walk for nothing and eventually draft a guy who could make an impact rather know we aren’t going anywhere with Bynum or Lopez.

Very true.

I don’t even want a trade exception. Give me some cap space to start retooling, in the unlikely event he does leave.

I would be SHOCKED if he really felt Rose was the best player in the NBA.

Even the most ardent, homer/Bullz Rulez/Rose for MVP fan would be unlikely to make that argument.

If he really thinks that, it should be grounds for termination from any kind of sports analyst job. Seriously.

He honestly believes it.

Said Rose was MVP last year. He has an unhealthy bromance with Rose.

Yeah... even as much as a DRose fan that I am...

…he’s a heck of a player who’s had a heck of a season that’s deserving of MVP consideration, but he’s not the best player in the NBA; he’s not even the best all-around point guard yet; I would rank him behind Chris Paul and Deron Williams. Even though Rose arguably had the best season of any point guard, Paul and Williams have been consistently good on both sides of the ball for several years.

Paul and Williams also don’t have solid defensive teammates like Rose has. That goes a long way. Put Rose on NOLA or NJ and he puts up worse numbers.

Got it. Dwight’s leaving, foregone conclusion. One question for the idiots over at ESPN, if The Bulls lose early, it would most likely be to the Magic (Bulls losing early for me is the conference semis and not ECF or Finals, seriously we are not at that point yet…it’s still the Bulls); so why on earth would Dwight leave a team that has gone Finals, ECF, at least ECF to a team that he a) just beat or b) hasn’t made the playoffs in years? It really makes no sense, the guy wants to win…he the number NBA player in endorsements while playing in Orlando…he has a new arena…and his team is a contender. I honestly Bucher wasn’t entertaining questions about Dwight joining the cHeat.

I was thinking the same thing about why would he go to the Bulls if he just beat them...

I mean, they do have a better core for the future, theoretically. However, he’d be leaving a team designed around him for one that he would have to take a backseat to Rose on. Yes, Dwight is way ahead of him in terms of overall ability, but Chicago is Rose’s city right now. He’s a native of the town and was behind their resurrection.

Also, I can’t believe he said Rose is the best player in the NBA. That is like someone saying that Iverson is the best player of all-time (and I like Iverson).

Bulls don't have cap space either.

Plus, Rose will have a new contract by then and I imagine they’ll want to keep Asik for frontcourt depth. True, the Bulls could offer something like Noah, Deng, and filler for Dwight and Turk but the Magic don’t feel threatened about losing Dwight to a team near or over the cap.
