Fran Vázquez vs. Panathinaikos Athens, G3

Regal FC Barcelona fell to Panathinaikos Athens, 76-74, in Greece this Tuesday, March the 29th, on game three of the EuroLeague’s quarterfinals. Barça is now down 2-1 in the series.

Orlando Magic’s Fran Vázquez started and logged 26:35 of playing time. Vázquez scored six points on 2-of-5 shooting from the field and 2-of-3 from the foul line, grabbed 11 boards and blocked two shots.

Despite the numbers, Vázquez actually did not play well at all. Barça struggled badly protecting the paint, allowing PAO to score 26 points there and to grab 12 offensive rebounds. Mike Batiste is dominating the series.

On offense, Barça ran a pick-and-roll with Ricky Rubio and Vázquez, down three with under 50 seconds left, and Fran missed an easy layup at the rim. It was Regal’s last real possession.

Barça faces elimination as they play game four next Thursday, March the 31st.
