Let us hang on for a moment. If we look at the current cap situation, it is very bleak. No BSing about it. But we all know a lockout is coming. Let us also be smart. The Owners will win. They have leverage. Only sport they don't is MLB and look how bad it has fallen to. I am Yankee fan, but Pittsburgh literally has no hope, forever but lets not talk baseball. The way the NBA has their cap situation is not inherently bad. If owners want to spend money they should be able to. I agree. I am not sure a hard cap works as much as being a smart GM helps. But if the owners get a hard cap, then there is one thing that will come with that: the Ability to Cut Players. This is what cripples the NBA more than anything else. A salary cap does not help the NFL as much as the ability to cut dead weight players. Being able to get rid of junk is what makes the NFL competitive. I actually do not want a franchise tag.. I want the ability to cut players whenever. If I can be fired, players should be able to be fired. I am sure the owners are talking to their GMs. And before you say, "Well why didn't Utah keep Deron Williams then? Idiot." Look he was never staying there. He has a home in San Diego. He was gonna go somewhere to play with someone else. If the owners get this, and I believe they will, the Magic will be able to dump Hedo, Gil, Q, Duhon, and potentially Jameer Nelson if need be.All of the sudden cap space is there. Now you can argue what is it to stop superstars from leaving? since contracts will be smaller, players are going to look for ways to save money. And Orlando provides this: no state tax. What does that mean? IF everyone has a hard cap, and salaries are lower players are going to want to play in Florida and Texas. Do you know how much it is going to cost to live in New York? In Boston? In California? If your salary dips so much and there is a hard cap all those non state tax teams become the destinations. All of the sudden Orlando would have cap space and be able to tell players,"You can save money on state taxes, go to the beach during the summer, play in the best facility, oh and play with some guy named Dwight" I know it is hard with the way everything looks, but the owners could end up saving us the fans in the end. Root for the owners to win. Hard to root for billionaires, but they are the ones who control the teams. Honestly the Magic would be to cut practically everyone and then build around Dwight, Paul or Williams, Redick, Anderson, Bass, and Clark. Something to help ease all of our suffering.
