What The Magic And Otis Smith Should Have Done!

The Magic should have not made either of those trades last season (obviously). They should have moved Gortat into the starting lineup next to Dwight. Waited for the season to end and used the amnesty to release Rashard Lewis. Then you wouldnt have Turkoglu's bad contract on the books and you would still have Gortat to either keep (which would have been worth it if he is starting) or trade him during the offseason. They would have had cap room (because you would amnesty Rashard Lewis and wouldnt have Turkoglu) and Gortat. Instead they have no cap room, No Gortat, Had to use the amnesty on Gilbert Arenas, and are stuck with Turkoglu's bad contract.

Thanks, Wasnt obvious enough to Otis Smith. He probably still Cant figure it out now!

But then again drafting Danny Granger over Fran Vasquez wasn’t obvious enough to him either. Worst General Manager in basketball and maybe all of sports!

You act like we picked Fran with the first pick over Granger......Granger was picked 17th, Otis wasn't the only one that passed over him.

I’ve got no problem with people that want to complain about the job Otis has done on trades and signings, but the Granger argument is people just reaching for a reason complain. In that same Draft, Gortat was picked 2nd to last in the entire draft and Otis picked him up for cash considerations, but by your logic I guess every GM in the league other than the Suns are a failure.

Please leave a message, I'm busy hiding my cat from TGS.

It is worthless now to look at what should have been done! To be fair, it is not the same thing to make a decision then and to analyze it now. For instance: for the Magic it was Championship or bust, Lewis hardly even played with the Wizards after and Arenas at the moment was averaging 17 pps (including a 30 pt game vs Orlando), J rich was averaging I thin 18 pts with the suns and Carter was looking washed for us (barring his disappearing act vs celtics on previous season), and the team in general was suffering from a chronic turnover syndrome, hence Turk. Therefore if nothing was done, we would have been criticizing that now.

Otis gambled, and it went terribly bad, not only with the midseason trades, he screwed up big time letting Barnes go! For that reason, and regardless of Dwight, he must go. I personally think that even if Otis is fired, Dwight will leave (he is just trying to save face), but nonetheless Otis has manage to completely lose this team in the last couple of years. We went from finalists to a 1st round exit against the Hawks, so yes, he should be fired and someone who can either convince Dwight to stay or build on trades and picks after his departure, should be brought!
