Orlando Magic News for August 16th: Stanley Robinson's Contract, J.J. Redick's Game, and Dwight Howard's Summer
- Orlando Magic sign draft pick Stanley Robinson - OrlandoSentinel.com
Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel has details on the contract Stanley Robinson signed with the Orlando Magic today:
Robinson's contract is believed to be worth $473,604 for the 2010-11 season, but for him to start earning that salary, he would have to make the regular-season roster. Non-guaranteed contracts will become guaranteed for the remainder of the season on Jan. 10.
The Magic made Robinson the 59th pick of this year's draft.

Does he really need to do that?
He’ll be the 5th option offensively every time he’s in the game. He’s very good in transition, but the Magic barely plays on the fast break…
The only reason he should be good offensively is not to allow double teams to the rest of the players on the court. Unfortunately, he’s not a shooter (maybe he works on that into the training camp?)
He was a 34% 3pt shooter in college. If his range can extend out to the pro 3, that would be tolerable. That also includes his atrocious junior year, when he was 3 for 23 on the season. So long as he’s enough of a threat from outside that defenses can’t sag off him like they did with Skip, he’ll pretty much be doing what we need on offense from a third string SF.
Honor is no substitute for victory.
Any word on what number he's choosing?

Despite having quite a low salary... wouldn't the luxury tax basically make him an $900k player?
How much was Linton Johnson gonna make last year, until he got cut?
