Schmitz: "[Otis] Smith Will Match for [J.J.] Redick"
Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel did some digging around the Orlando Magic, and his findings lead him to believe team GM Otis Smith will match the Chicago Bulls' three-year, $19 million offer sheet for reserve shooting guard J.J. Redick.
From what I have been able to gather, Smith will match for Redick because he wants to protect the asset as he did in the case of another restricted free agent, center Marcin Gortat, and he doesn’t want to lose Redick to an East rival.
Smith is taking as much time as allotted to talk to other teams and to keep the Bulls’ money intended for Redick on hold.
Overall, Schmitz assesses that "the climate in the Magic organization does not suggest Smith is letting go of Redick unless he lands a sweet deal."
But Schmitz can't be 100% certain, saying, "Things could change in the next 24 or so hours, but it’s unlikely."
Smith has until tomorrow to make a decision on Redick. Tuesday, he said that team ownership will have a big say in the matter, given the financial implications of matching.

"Unless he lands a sweet deal"
At this point, what kind of deal would preclude matching the offer? Who are we trying to move/acquire?
rejoice girl, tomorrow will be a great day for you

So if the Magic do not match the offer, do they receive some sort of compensation from the Bulls?

Not even a handshake or a smile.
Please don't simply ignore the stats when making your case

And now we're talking.. Nice one!!
The NETS is like my own sense of direction..
The MAGIC made me realize that one..
Speculation
We’re still in the same place we were before this report. When has Schmidt ever been right?? I just don’t want to celebrate just yet. Too early to get my hopes up. I will be tuning in for Otis’ “Decision” tomorrow for the real deal…
"In Otis We Trust"
I've been hearing that if the Bulls don't get Reddick, They'll go after Brewer..
Which Brewer?? Corey Brewer from the Timberwolves, or someone else? I love CB!! If that’s the case, WE should go after him!
But I guess that’s not the Brewer the bull are talking about, huh?
Ronnie Brewer
Spent the end of last year with the Grizzlies after a trade from the Jazz
Here's the deal on Reddick...
Here’s my 5 cents worth on this subject: There are good trades and there are BAD trades. there are even WORSE losses…
Loosing Reddick falls on the WORSE category, any way you slice it: Regardless of the can’t- guard-Wade-or-Kobe-argument (very FEW can… and we CAN’T have ANY!); there simply is NOT another player AVAILABLE who will bust his butt out; who has the Basketball IQ; who can also spread the ball around; who has the sweet 3-point shot, and who is as DEPENDABLE as J.J. Reddick, in EVERY game.
And on top of THAT, NO ONE in the Magic team has THE looks as he does, earning him quite a following here in Orlando; my wife and I included! In fact, we personally KNOW of a few DOZEN girls who atend Magic games just for HIM!
See; if you tell me we can get say… a Chris Paul in a deal including Reddick, I say OK! This is a business and THAT’S an improvement, Yes… otherwise… NO WAY!
Now, unless we want to start worrying about EMPTY seats at the NEW Orlando Center for the coming season, we BETTER get THIS right! And you can take THIS to the Bank!!!

The look? The look?
As in, “I wonder how his last name would look with an extra ‘D’?”, or, “That color shirt looks good on you, Dwight?”
JJ's staying!!!
I’m really glad the magic gonna keep jj.He’s become one of my favorite players on the team. Any chance JJ will start??

Not unless Carter is traded
And Carter’s not likely to be traded.
