Alex Kennedy has the scoop on how the Orlando Magic plan to prepare for the NBA Draft. They're holding just one workout a scant two days before the draft, and "relying heavily on game film and their individual interviews" to help make their decision:
This workout is expected to take place on June 22nd, just two days before the draft. Quincy Pondexter, Darington Hobson, Devin Ebanks, Jordan Crawford, and Greivis Vasquez make up the list of attendees so far, but others could be added at the last minute.

Trey Kerby of Ball Don't Lie, the basketblogosphere's resident aesthete, reacts to the Magic's new logo:
If they're shooting for something new that still calls back to the original Magic symbol, they got it. I'll miss the old font (and still miss the old pinstriped jerseys) but this is more modern for sure.

Should the Orlando Magic get rid of [Vince] Carter?
Yes.
There's more to his answer than that, of course. Check it out.
- Raptors Cleaning House? - TrueHoop Blog
Chad Ford reports that the Magic are among the teams whose first-round draft choice the Toronto Raptors are interested in acquiring. The Raptors want another first-round pick and are contacting teams with "multiple" picks, or, in Orlando's case, teams "trying to save cash or a luxury tax hit."

OT : Just saw that Steve Kerr is out of the Suns

eddy's spot on
As usual.
Sarver’s an idiot if he thinks it’s worth gettng rid of Kerr over a couple of hundred thousand dollars.
I like the group of prospects...
the Magic have lined up for the June 22nd workout. I especially like Crawford and Ebanks. Hobson and Pondexter, I don’t know too much about. Vasquez could be a very solid backup PG but considering 4 of those 5 players listed are wings, it looks like we might draft a wing with the 29th pick, unless Otis is bluffing.

The main downside....
about Ebanks though is that he’s a terrible 3-pt shooter.

The most important part of this update
for me is the Raptors cleaning house. LETS GET BOSH. SOMEHOW. SOMEWAY. PLEASE.
that is all.
``There’s no need to quit. There’s no need to say that we’re going down fighting because we’re not going down. You just have to think positive and if you think negative you are going to lose. Like I told the guys in the locker room, `If anybody has any doubt, we’re not going to win. But if everybody’s on the same page and believes we’re going to win, then we’re going to win it.’’’ -Dwight Howard

If need be, I think taking on Turk or Calderon’s contract adds a new dimension to the trade and improves Orlando’s chances of landing Bosh greatly, considering Turk was pretty good in Orlando already and Calderon used to excel in a backup role once. Of course, Bosh is the ultimate determinant, does he want to go to Orlando over NY, LA, Chicago, etc.?
well if he wants a title, he better stay away from NY and a Lebron-less Chicago. Wouldn’t you want to go to a team on the verge who couldn’t do it without you? Say he comes here and wins a title with Dwight, Bosh gets a whole HEAP of credit for helping put the Magic over the top. That’s my logic anyway.

Yea I can't beleive I forgot to mention Miami. I see Bosh in Miami or LA most.
Interesting that I think Bosh will not join LBJ. If LBJ doesn’t land Bosh or Wade, then I see him staying in Cleveland even more. I’m not sure Amare, Boozer or Joe Johnson are on a comparable level (And any crazy S/Ts chances increase from 0.01% to 0.02% lol).

You mean Lakers right?
How are they going to possible include him into the lineup? Surely they have to ship off Bynum and/or Odom?
A lot of ppl keep saying they almost did a Bynum for Bosh swap last year, and that it may very well happen this summer.

That'd be great.
Bynum is hurt every year during the playoffs and Toronto won’t make the playoffs. Perfect fit.
"I've had people say, 'I don't need to check the [player statistics]. I've seen it with my eyes.' Well, I would also say your eyes lie to you sometimes, and some of the guys you may really like and think are really doing things, when you get deeper into it, aren't or vice versa." ~Stan Van Gundy

I don't think Toronto would want to swap just for Bynum.
They probably would want to take a bit more players for CB4.
Like Morrison? Walton?
Lakers only have less-than-replacement bench players to give up.

Miami hasn’t been as close as the Magic have the past two years. Miami is a little farther off and honestly, if it was Wade and Bosh in Miami, I don’t see that as a championship team. Good team, yes, but not a championship team. The Magic are still closer if the heat do get Bosh. One reason, Defense.

Jarrett Matthew Jack
I like the kid for some reason, more so than Calderon. He could fill the backup PG role or SG if need be.

OT (again) : Just saw on NBA.com that Izzo won't go to Cavs.
Don't mind my spelling. I'm a Typo Master.
So, based on the logo history, we should expect:
A new main logo in 2020
A new secondary logo the next time there’s a major change in the main logo
A new anniversary logo in 2013
Honor is no substitute for victory.
I think the new logo is pretty good.
It basically just matches up the jersey and logo.
As for the Bosh trade that has been talked about here, I think that could be a very interesting prospect but it seems very unlikely.
However, never count out Otis.

Just a question.
Can VC or someone reconstruct/re-negotiate his contract?? I know VC knows what he’s capable of so he knows what’s his value is..
we don't light the stars, we simply fade with them..
No. The CBA prevents players from renegotiating their contract. Once it's signed, it's signed. Can't change the terms.
Players and teams can mutually agree to terminate a contract, but that’s exceptionally rare. Famous example: Derek Fisher leaving the Jazz so he could move to a city better equipped to treat his daughter’s illness.
He did the Jazz a favor, by the way. I know the fans hate him there, but he was making MLE money and playing horribly.
Its Ok.
I liked the stars in the “Magic” name, but what the heck. If it lures a really good power forward to the team via free agency, I’ll like it better.
