Los Angeles Lakers at Orlando Magic, Mar 7, 2010 2:30 PM EST
The Orlando Magic will host the L.A. Lakers this afternoon for the first time since last June, when the Lakers won the NBA Finals on the Magic's parquet court. Eddy's done his share of previewing the game here and at Forum Blue & Gold, so I won't say much more than this: the Lakers have lost two straight, and have yet to drop three in a row since acquiring Pau Gasol from Memphis more than two years ago. If you don't think L.A. is bringing all it has today, you're mistaken. Similarly, if you don't think the Magic--who already lost to the Lakers once this season--aren't extra hyped for this one, you'll be surprised. The Magic's training room has a framed photo of Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson watching the Lakers celebrate their title from the bench. They want this one. We should be in for a treat, especially since both teams have had a day to rest. Said rest day enabled Ron Artest to dye his hair blonde, with the word DEFENSE added in three different languages, in purple, incidentally.

Well, no, but this is a big game for the NBA and ABC/ESPN and they are calling all these ticky-tack fouls getting players in foul trouble.

We played 3 quarters great. Kobe became Kobe. And there’s some time and possesion managment issues (Foul Kobe?) but all in all the new guys played (Even Bass’ early play). Gortart, Barnes, Barnes and Vince all played well and we gonna need them in the ’offs.

Not a lucky win, but it certainly required more work in the end that one would imagine after the first 3 quarters
One could make the argument the lakers and Kobe specfically were gonna make a run, but again considering all the jitters and tightness started to show up (missed free throws) it was a survival.

You give me a guy called “Barnes” and a guy called “Matty”, I’m going to trust Barnes. Might not be fair, but there it is.

these FT's are called clutch free throws for a reason
nobody knows how a game is going to turn out so there goes that bs about it being just 1 point. The outcome was close so the team needed to knock down free throws when it matters most. Dwight, VC and Jameer would have iced the game if they just make them

With all the issues I had with the officiating, the Magic still got 39 FTA!
Too bad they missed 11 and some crucial ones down the stretch. Still, they pulled out the W despite all of that!
