"Ball don't lie" speaks the truth about Jameer
Here's the link from Kelly Dwyer
or here's what he said
"I didn't mean to start a little trend with this, but it's clear that Jameer Nelson is this league's most important non-star. When he's average, to me, the Magic don't quite approach the level of the league's top teams. When he's on? When he's playing All-Star level ball? The Magic are a championship favorite. Not contender, favorite. I've that much faith for a Magic team with two starters dropping respective 20 and 10s.
22 and 10 for Nelson in this win. Three straight 30-point (plus, actually) quarters for Orlando, who brought the D in the third quarter to turn this into a rout. Nearly 139 points per 100 possessions for the Magic. Goodness."

Too bad it's after the trade deadline.
Otherwise we could have a “Let’s trade Jameer while we can!” thread, a la ben_gleicher’s post about Vince.
I hate Varejao.
We can still discuss who to trade him to in the offseason

I'll be right there

We'll trade him for LeBron

I always will be of the thought that the Magic go as Nelson goes.
I write for Orlando Pinstriped Post and have a Twitter account.

agree
thats why i hate jameer coz he plays a vital role for the magic’s success and he gets injured when we need him the most. trade jameer for cp3 would be a dream come true. anything less would be a lateral move
in OTIS we TRUST...
New Orleans may have won the Super Bowl
But I don’t think they got that drunk.

Deron or Chauncey is no lateral move
But a dream nonetheless.

Billups is old
But, as with Courtney Cox, I still would.

There are several players I'd deal Jameer for straight up...
…but none who their teams would actually let go in exchange for him.
Anyway, why are we worrying about this? Jameer is healthy, he’s showing off his ability to run this offense, and we’re looking largely unstoppable again. You don’t replace your point guard unless you absolutely have to — the point guard is the quarterback of basketball. What he does on the court is important, but it’s equally important that he calls the game. He needs to know the offense by heart, he needs to hold everything together. Even when he’s not excelling as a player, Jameer does that better than almost anyone.
It's a good thing Larry Bird's initials weren't MJ. '80s basketball was confusing enough -- Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Marles Jarkley, Mominique Jilkins... Makeem Jolajuwon...
Exactly.
When Jameer is on — which he has been for a while now — he can make us unbeatable. And when he’s not on, he still keeps things running quite well for his team. How many PGs can you say that about? Paul, Williams, Nash… the three undisputed stars. And Billups.
Rondo can say the second, but not really the first — as a non-scorer, he still needs his guys to score.
Can Kidd say either? He’s not a scoring threat, though he has acquired a solid 3 at this late stage of the game, and he can definitely torpedo his team’s chances with reckless game management from time to time. Still a really good point guard, but I’d say Nelson is both steadier and more devastating at his peak.
And a lot of the young guys — Evans, Curry, even Westbrook and Rose — can manage the first, but not the second. They’ll shoot a team out of a game, or make mistakes with the rotations. This will probably change (for most of them), but at this point, they’re not steady.
Not saying Nelson is a top-5 PG in the league, but there aren’t a lot of guys I would trust more do do his job.
Bass is a kind of fish.
I like Jameer
But in 2 years, I think we’d be happier with Darren Collison. I think he’s going to be a fantastic prototypical point guard.
My 3 yr old's Teacher: Is he yelling white power?
My Wife: No, he's yelling Dwight Howard.
Ech.
Not a fan of Collison at all… he’s been playing well (sometimes) for New Orleans, but a lot of that is the fact that he’s using plays that were designed for Chris Paul. Of course he’s going to have the opportunity to show off — with the New Orleans offense designed the way it is, AJ could show off for them. (He wouldn’t… but he could.) Between the offense and the extra minutes he’s getting, he’s posting some big numbers… like 4.53 turnovers per game.
Other than that… he wasn’t impressive for UCLA, and he wasn’t impressive early in the season. His three-point shot is shaky at best. And remember, he was a four-year college guy… he’s 23. I’m not saying he won’t become a solid NBA starter, but his stats right now are just silly on so many levels.

But then again
I was also skeptical of Westbrook until this season. So I could just be unfairly dismissive of UCLA point guards. (I make up for it with my fanatical support of Kevin Love.)
