A Trade idea (just for fun)

there is talks about a deal involving Chicago that would sent j.j and bass to the bulls for salmons and in my personal opinion this is a really bad deal for the Magic but  if we could pull of this deal it would make more sense and add depth in the pg spot just in case jameer is not 100 %

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ylzyr3a

adding hinrich would give us a good defender, shooter and someone who can play both guard positions and Gibson is a good rookie that is a little worse than bass but has a smaller contract and is a good defender.

The down side is having to part ways with J.J that has played so well this year for us and that has been in my opinion one of are most consistent players.

I'm still not 100% sure i've convinced myself that this is a good trade so i wanted to know what you guys think???

No way we trade away JJ

He has become a lifesaver during some games. He adds so much depth to our team. Plus, he has really picked up the slack, where VC has left off. I mean in that game against Detroit, he was our leading scorer, off the bench! I do like the idea of getting Hinrich though.

Looking at your deal, I would rather have Salmons than Hinrich if were losing JJ but I could see why either way. I wouldn’t add Bass either. Nor would I even really do JJ for Salmons or Hinrich in the first place tbh unless they add their 1st round pick or Gibson maybe.
I have a tough time wanting to do it with JJ alone. Here’s where I can see this happening and not:
Salmons is a vet, I can see him meshing well with Rashard and the Magic, and he has excellent 3P%. His FGA’s for CHI are right below Rashard’s for ORL, in ORL I would obviously want Salmon to lower that abit and I think he would for us. He has good length and athleticism for defense, I think he’s a solid defender. Its guaranteed he can/is a better defender than JJ.Tho I need someone who’s more knowledgeable about the Bulls or seen them sometimes to tell me how he is on D, that would be a critical point for me. Also, JJ is at a pretty good sell high streak right now, if VC comes back strong, JJ can go back into obscurity and teams have to be sure they would still want him despite his up/down minutes/production. Getting Salmons with a nice 1st rounder could be a steal if he fits in.
What’s bad is wondering why his FG% is 41 and JJ’s is 44 (who shoots nearly the same number of 3’s in much less FGA’s!). Why we are going for a 30 yr old when JJ is 25 still. Salmons doesn’t have a great APG, very justifiable to wonder how’d he fit, esp. when taking JJ’s spot, a guy who has been like a freakin PG no less! Also, JJ has more potential than Salmons considering their respective ages and this may already mean that, along with JJ’s play this season, he can command better trade value perhaps.
I like Hinrich, but I wouldn’t trade anyone for him w/o something more incoming, if at all. His high salary makes it hard and he’s 29. It’ll always be interesting to see where these rumors and trade ideas go for this yr’s deadline, and I would jump on board for any trade Otis does, but Im not quite seeing this one. Otis likes some players at almost comically unreasonable levels at times, but one became a 1st time All Star last season when fully healthy (Jameer), I believe we have developed two amazing centers, one of which is the most dominant player in the league, and this one survived a couple of underwhelming years to start their career, JJ Redick (Why Im not GM, I would’ve dumped him back then :p), so I really don’t see JJ leaving. In fact, the only trade JJ scenarios I see are if Otis is almost 100% sure someone else is going to overpay JJ big time this summer to the point the Magic cannot match, which may not be enough if JJ keeps getting better also..
Personally, I could still trade JJ tho, but only for some few players out there that I would like for sure for the Magic.

JJ has the potential to be a big time shooter like Ray Allen. Because of his early struggles in his career, people forget he was one of the best shooters in college basketball. Right now his confidence is up, his range is back, his free throw percentage is back, he’s playing better D, he absolutely could be a starter for the chicago bulls, he’s the best at getting dwight the ball on the magic, he can light up the opposing teams 2nd unit for 15ppg, he can also step in for VC and pick up the slack, ball movement is at it’s best when JJ gets a touch, he’s turning into a clutch performer, he’s developed the kobe bryant pump fake and lean into your opponent, he’s such a three point threat that its not uncommon for him to get fouled by players trying to close out hard on him behind the 3 pt line….did I miss anything that should say that JJ for salmons/heinrich or anyone on the bulls minus derrick rose would be ridiculous half way into the season?? Not even for Tyrus Thomas. Between VC and JJ I think the magic are good at SG until they need to replace VC for a younger go to scorer. If there’s a weakness on the team right now it’s the PG position going into the future, AJ is getting even older and how long can white chocolate keep up? Oh one more thing…JJ is a bargain and we’re already in the luxury. IF OTIS does something I see it being small, like a backup PG, I think where we’ll see some changes will be in the offseason regarding the PG’s. Thats just my opinion though :) And i’m not a JJ groupie, I actually wouldn’t have minded a trade a year ago, but he’s impressed me.

Me either, he’s a good player but thats why I said I wouldn’t even trade JJ for Thomas.

Bass, Johnson, and Redick for Gibson and Hinrich makes no sense.

At best, it’s a lateral move. Bass and Redick for Salmons wouldn’t make sense, either.

we cant keep trading away the players that play well for us!

this is a terrible trade idea and if it were done i would be one irate magic fan. thank God that in Otis, I trust. trading away your second best three point shooter when you run the 1-in,4-out makes zero sense. resign JJ if anything, dont let him go!

I don't think we need to trade at all

Right now, for better or worse, I think this is the team we need to take to the next level.
