T-Mobile Player of the Week: Vince Carter

This post is sponsored by T-Mobile

The Orlando Magic surged to a 2-1 record in the last week before the All-Star Break and came away with the second seed in the Eastern Conference as a result. Shooting guard Vince Carter was instrumental in that push, and for that, he is our T-Mobile Player of the Week.

Carter dazzled with his 48-point performance against New Orleans, which he followed up with an efficient 15-point outing against Chicago. He faltered a bit, as did the Magic, against Cleveland, but it's clear that Carter, on the whole, turned in his finest week of games since joining the Magic last summer.

Carter

The month of January a lot of people wanted to trash him, trade him, still comparing him with Hedo and now he is the T-Mobile Player of the Week. I’m sure Carter is glad to get the monkey off his back for a while at least. I’m with JJ, " What we need out of VC is VC" or something like that. If we are going to the finals, we need both him and Nelson healthy. Congratulations and well deserved Carter……

I still feel this way and I’m sure that some other do also. In MY OWN opinion, he had one fluke game after the decent 7-13, 20pt outing BOS. The next game he had 15 @CHI and 14CLE, still not good enough for me but Im glad that we got the Ws in those 3 games. I dont feel like he deserve this T-Mobile POW just because of 1 game. Dwight Howard was more deserving in my opinion, but its not like this matters.

Carter was efficient against the Bulls, though.

Vince may have had just 15 points but he did it on 6-10 shooting. Howard was a worthy candidate to be named Player of the Week but what tips the scale, and I agree with Ben on this, is the fact that Carter had one of the best games a player has had in the NBA this year (so far). That alone merits being recognized.

I write for Orlando Pinstriped Post and have a Twitter account.
