Trade Possibility

New trade idea that I find kind of interesting.
Vince Carter + Brandon Bass + 1st Round Draft Pick
for
Amar'e Stoudemire + 2nd Round Draft Pick
Why Orlando does it: As they proved last night, the twin towers approach can work. Plus, how good does this lineup look: Nelson, Barnes, Lewis, Stoudemire, Howard. The other thing this does, is give us flexibility to trade Gortat later on. If more firepower is needed, Pietrus or JJ can replace Barnes in the starting lineup.
Why Phoenix does it: They need to get rid of Stoudemire before he leaves for free. Bass is a good young player. Vince is a box office draw while the team rebuilds, and they get a 1st rounder to sweeten the deal.
What do you think?

In my opinion, going away from the 4-out/1-in philosophy is a mistake.
A “big” lineup is fine in spurts, but shouldn’t be seen as the solution. Then you’re changing a team’s identity in the middle of the season and the last thing the Magic need is a philosophical upheaval on the court.

I see it like this:
Amare plays 30 minutes a game
15 – Alongside Dwight in a twin towers approach
15 – As Dwight’s backup
This does move Gortat to the bench, so if PHO wanted him instead of Bass, I would make that move as well.
JWill, JJ, Pietrus, Anderson, Amare would be a great second unit as well.

Amare will want to play more than 30 minutes a game.

PHX says no....regardless of the Magic side.
Some of the chatter on trading Amare is because the Suns are afraid he’ll pull a Boozer and opt IN for another year. PHX needs to dump salary, so taking Carter makes no sense.
Besides they could get better return for Amare then Orlando’s trash.

I do it in a hearbeat.
but, I don’t see the benefit to the Suns.
-The SG they have is better than VC
-They put themselves back in the same situation with VC being a FA next year
-You mentioned box office draw, but trading for a guy playing below avg tells the fans you are tanking the season. There goes your ticket sales.
I love the trade ideas, though. I would love to move VC, so we can get younger, and increase production.

Not too likely, but it’s intriguing. I think there’s alot of ramifications to getting a premier 4, but that was something the Magic wouldnt have minded if Bass was better, and getting a Bosh would clearly be obvious imho.

Btw, i've always been a big fan of Dwight.
It’s one reason I consider myself a “bandwagon” fan of the Magic now. (One of the many reasons.)

As a Suns fan, my first reaction to your hatred towards Amare was to get pissed.
Then I remembered that I hate Amare and his no rebound grabbing ass too.

So i guess trading Lewis non-rebounding grabbing ass 4 Amare is out of the picture
I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?

Lewis has two good reasons to not grab tons of rebounds, as far as I'm concerned.
One, he plays on the perimeter most of the time, where SVG wants him to be. Two, Dwight freaking Howard is on his team. Amare on the other hand is the primary big man on a mostly undersized team. He should easily be averaging a double double. Last night, Amare had 1 rebound in 27 minutes against Dallas. Now, advanced stats aren’t my thing, but according to my calculations, that amounts to a TRB% of jack squat. Believe me, the Magic are far better off with Lewis around.

I agree.
I like Stoudemire but I would prefer Lewis.

I don't want Stoudamire at all
Sure, he can score in his sleep but his motivation seems so inconsistent. We already had a guy like that with McGrady…I’d rather a player with less talent but more determination than a guy who could have anything in the world he wanted, but he can only be bothered half the time.
