Best offseason acquisition?

Who would have thought that Matt Barnes would be better than Vince Carter?  VC has been a disappointment, while Barnes has been really good lately.  He already averages more rebs/steals/blocks than Carter in less minutes and is shooting a higher FG% than Carter.  Last few games Barnes has scored more and given out more assists too.  Barnes also has shown some leadership recently (something we have lacked-nobody else said anything!).  What do you think?

I cannot wait to see Matt Barnes in the playoffs

He will probably average one shoulder block foul a game.

I think I agree. :))

We’ll need VC later tho, I don’t know why he is declining so much lately. I think he is hurting out there. Magic staff say he’s ok, but we all know how many times they said that about G. Hill.

Vince

I’m choosing to believe that Vince’s recent bad play is simply a camouflage so that teams will underestimate him in the playoffs. At that point, we will see vintage Vince demolishing teams.

Yes, I realize I’m deluding myself, but I have to cling to something.

Between Barnes and Carter? Barnes.

But withholding final opinion to see what Anderson does in the season’s 2nd half.

Barnes has had the short-term impact, but Anderson is going to have the long-term future.

Never mind the long term

I think Anderson’s been the best acquisition full stop. I’d like to see him start, at least for a bit…see what Rashard can bring off the bench, Odom style.

That suggestion has some merit. Wonder if Lewis would ever live with that.

Stan could always point back to the Utah game and tell Rashard than Rayn is playing well.

will never happen

This is more prevalent in soccer since talent is harder to gauge in sports such as soccer/football than basketball. But in soccer, a player which has been purchased for $100 million dollars will continue to get the starts over a young kind purchased for $500k, even if the young kid is player better. The problem is, once you start the $500k kid, you are telling the world that: “i made a massive and inexcusable mistake, fire me please.” The mistake was paying $100m for production which you could have had for $500k. This is such a massive mistake, that the individual who made the mistake really should be fired. Politicians never say they made a mistake, they always attempt to WEASEL out of it.

Again, it is kind of rare in basketball because talent is so much more obvious. Very rarely can a $500k player beat out a $100m player. And if they can, it is NEVER and i mean NEVER through free agency. Usually it is through the draft. I don’t remember the last time this type of error was made after the player had 10 years in the league.

So, in any event, no way in hell will they ever sit Rashard and play Anderson even if Anderson is the better player. If they COULD, they would first trade Rashard away. But now one would possibly take him with his contract, so they are stuck. Refusing to say that they made a mistake, they will play the $100m man until hell freezes over.

Jason Williams has be great aswell.

Did any of you expect him to return as such an efficient ball handler and to be this productive? He’s proven to be indespensable. His value during all of Jameers injury woes can not be weighed.

I didn't expect Williams to be as efficient as he has been, no.
