Schmitz: Orlando Magic Add Morris Almond and Linton Johnson III to Training-Camp Roster

Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel reports the Orlando Magic have signed shooting guard Morris Almond and small forward Linton Johnson III to training-camp contracts.

Almond, 24, has appeared in 34 NBA games over the last 2 seasons with the Utah Jazz. Where he's really made his mark is in the D-League, in which he's averaged 25.1 points on 46.4% shooting (36.7% on three-pointers). He also has one of the best nicknames in modern NBA history: "Mo Nuts."

Johnson, 29, has appeared in 151 games over the last 6 seasons for Chicago (twice), San Antonio, New Jersey, New Orleans, Phoenix, Toronto, and Charlotte. He owns per-game averages of 3.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in 14.0 minutes.

Given that the Magic are well over the luxury-tax threshold, and that they already have the league-minimum 13 players on guaranteed deals, neither Johnson nor Almond figures to stand much of a chance to make the opening-night roster. But they'll certainly have their opportunities.

I think it would be great if we can get some “Mo Nuts” on our bench!!
SVG will be able to keep Mo Nuts fresh in case he needs them to come in and play for some tired nuts that our starters might have!!

J/Kidding all!!! lol
