Word of the Day: Anticipation

anticipation (n.) - the act of looking forward; visualization of a future event or state

With the off-season winding down, it's time to start looking forward to training camp for the Orlando Magic, which will take place in roughly two weeks. For the past few months, general manager Otis Smith has been constructing a roster that many within the organization anticipate being better than last year's Finals team. The questions surrounding the new additions will remain unanswered until October 26th, when the defending Eastern Conference Champions begin the regular season at the Amway Arena (the building's last opening night) against the Philadelphia 76ers.

But before then, it is at the RDV SportsPlex where the foundation will be laid for what everyone around the City Beautiful is hoping for, another championship run.

Will the season begin already!!!!

I think the first 10 games (even without Rashard) could be the most important to the team as far as wins vs losses.

Could be, but I doubt it.

I think Orlando will be fine.

What do you think their record will be after the 1st 10? I say somewhere around 7-3.

The problem is that Cleveland and/or Boston might be 10-0 or 9-1 after the first 10, which scares me.

Orlando should be 9-1 but I'll concede that the team may suck in a game or two.

That being said, it’s highly unlikely that either Boston or Cleveland will start the year 10-0.

Exactly

That’s what I mean, I think the 3 man race for the best record is going to be close. I want the best record and homecourt this year.

Magic were the 2nd best road team in the league behind only the Lakers last season, and beat the Celtics and Cavs in series with them hosting homecourt advantage.

I wouldn't want to try that gauntlet, again.

You can read with the Jameer camp and the many players already volunteering workouts at the RDV that they feel more anticipation than us. Btw, I read that Linton Johnson will be added as the new 12th man? Was part of a championship Spurs team as a 12th man I think.

The team is hungry, that's for sure.
